Setup
Before operating the DMX Move Control 512 DMX, ensure all connections are secure and correct.
- Power Connection: Connect the provided power adapter to the DC INPUT port on the rear panel of the controller. Plug the adapter into a suitable power outlet.
- DMX Output: Connect a standard 3-pin DMX cable from the DMX OUT port on the controller to the DMX IN port of your first DMX lighting fixture. Daisy-chain additional DMX fixtures using DMX cables from the DMX OUT of one fixture to the DMX IN of the next.
- Power On: Flip the POWER switch on the rear panel to the 'ON' position. The display and indicators on the front panel should illuminate.
- Fixture Addressing: Ensure all DMX lighting fixtures are correctly addressed according to their respective manuals and the DMX channels you intend to control with the console.

Operating Instructions
The DMX Move Control 512 DMX offers various modes and controls for comprehensive lighting management.
Control Panel Overview

Figure 3: Detailed view of the control surface, highlighting faders, jog wheels, and function buttons.
- DMX Channel Faders (1-16): These 16 faders control individual DMX channels. They can be assigned to control various parameters of your lighting fixtures, such as intensity, color, gobos, or effects. The console supports 512 assignable DMX channels across 32 control channels.
- Fixture/Page Buttons: Use these buttons to select different pages of DMX channels, allowing control over more than 16 channels at a time.
- Jog Wheels (PAN/TILT): The two jog wheels are used for precise control of PAN (horizontal) and TILT (vertical) movements of moving head fixtures.
- Movement Patterns: The console includes 9 integrated movement patterns. These can be selected and applied to moving head fixtures for automated motion sequences.
- Color Effects: Access 7 integrated color effects to quickly change the color output of your fixtures.
- Scene/Chase Buttons: Program and recall static lighting scenes or dynamic chase sequences. The console allows for complex programming of up to 100 steps for each of the 32 chases.
- Mode Buttons (Manual, Music, Auto): Select the desired operating mode:
- Manual: Direct control via faders and buttons.
- Music: Synchronizes lighting effects with audio input (if available).
- Auto: Runs programmed scenes or chases automatically.
- REC/ESC Button: Used for recording scenes/chases and exiting menus.
- BLACK OUT Button: Instantly turns off all DMX output.
- RUN MODE/DEL Button: Activates run mode for programmed sequences or deletes stored data.
- SWAP Function: This function allows reassigning the 16 faders to different DMX channel numbers of fixtures, which is useful for standardizing channel order for effects.
Programming Scenes and Chases
Detailed programming instructions are typically found in the full product manual. Generally, programming involves:
- Entering programming mode (e.g., by holding REC).
- Adjusting DMX channels using faders and jog wheels to create a desired lighting state.
- Saving the state as a scene or a step within a chase.
- Exiting programming mode.
The console allows copying settings to other fixtures, simplifying the programming process for multiple identical units.
Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable performance of your DMX controller.
- Cleaning: Regularly wipe the surface of the controller with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish and internal components.
- Dust Protection: Keep the unit covered when not in use to prevent dust accumulation, especially around faders and buttons.
- Storage: Store the controller in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity.
- Cable Inspection: Periodically check all cables (power, DMX) for signs of wear, damage, or loose connections. Replace damaged cables immediately.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your DMX Move Control 512 DMX, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No power/Unit does not turn on. | Power cable disconnected; faulty power adapter; power outlet issue. | Check power cable connection. Ensure power adapter is working. Test power outlet with another device. |
| DMX fixtures not responding. | Incorrect DMX cabling; incorrect DMX addressing on fixtures; DMX termination missing; console not in run mode. | Verify DMX cable connections. Check DMX addresses on all fixtures. Ensure the last fixture in the chain has a DMX terminator. Confirm console is in an active operating mode (e.g., Manual, Auto). |
| Moving heads lose programmed positions or movement patterns do not activate. | Interference; temporary software glitch; incorrect channel assignment. | Restart the console (power cycle). Check DMX channel assignments for PAN/TILT. Ensure no conflicting manual controls are active. Use the SWAP function if needed to reassign channels. |
| Faders or buttons are unresponsive. | Dust or debris; internal component failure. | Gently clean around the faders and buttons. If the problem persists, contact customer support. |
If the issue persists after attempting these solutions, please contact Eurolite customer support for further assistance.
