Clock Face and Cuckoo Door: This image highlights the quartz movement for accurate timekeeping, the cuckoo bird's door, and the light sensor for night mode. The clock's decorations are carved from natural basswood, while the bird, clock dial, and hands are plastic.

Cuckoo Bird and Controls: The cuckoo bird emerges and flaps its wings hourly. The clock features an adjustable volume switch (Hi, Low, Off) and a permanently swinging wooden pendulum. Note that the weights and chains are decorative and do not power the clock.

Setup Instructions

1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the clock from its packaging. Inspect for any damage.
2. Battery Installation:

   Locate the battery compartment on the back of the clock. Insert two (2) D-size batteries (not included), ensuring correct polarity (+/-). The clock requires 2 D batteries for operation.

3. Pendulum Attachment: Gently attach the decorative pendulum to the hook or mechanism at the bottom of the clock. Ensure it can swing freely.
4. Mounting: Choose a suitable wall location. The clock dimensions are approximately 19.69 inches (50cm) high by 16.14 inches (41cm) wide. Securely mount the clock using appropriate wall hardware (not included).

5. Setting the Time:

   Rotate the minute hand (the longer hand) clockwise to set the current time. The hour hand will adjust automatically. Do not move the hour hand directly.

6. Setting the Cuckoo Sound:

   After setting the time, wait for the cuckoo to chime. If the number of cuckoo calls does not match the hour displayed, press the "PUSH" button located near the volume switch repeatedly until the cuckoo calls match the current hour. For example, if the clock shows 3:00 but cuckoos once, press the "PUSH" button two more times.

7. Volume Adjustment: Use the HI/LOW/OFF switch to adjust the cuckoo volume or silence it completely.

Operating Instructions

• Timekeeping: The clock utilizes a quartz movement for accurate timekeeping.
• Hourly Cuckoo: The cuckoo bird will emerge from its door and sing every hour, accompanied by wing flapping.
• Automatic Nighttime Shutdown: The built-in light sensor automatically silences the cuckoo calls when the room is dark, ensuring undisturbed sleep. The cuckoo will resume calls when light is detected.
• Decorative Elements: The pendulum swings continuously, and the weights and chains are for aesthetic purposes only; they do not contribute to the clock's mechanical operation.

Maintenance

• Battery Replacement: Replace the D-size batteries annually or when the clock's timekeeping becomes inaccurate or the cuckoo function weakens. Always replace both batteries at the same time.
• Cleaning: Wipe the clock's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, which may damage the wood finish.
• Handling: Handle the clock gently, especially the decorative elements and the cuckoo mechanism.
