Safety Information

Always disconnect power before installing or servicing the pump. Ensure all electrical connections comply with local codes and regulations. This device operates with electrical components and water; improper installation can lead to electric shock or fire. Do not operate the pump if it is damaged or if any wires are frayed. Keep out of reach of children.

Setup and Installation

The Aspen Mini Lime pump is designed for easy installation, either to the left or right of the evaporator unit. It integrates the pump and reservoir into a single unit, eliminating the need for separate connecting tubes or wires for the reservoir.

Tools Required:

Installation Steps:

  1. Prepare the Area: Ensure the area around the mini-split evaporator is clean and accessible. Identify the condensate drain outlet.
  2. Mounting the Pump: The pump can be mounted directly onto the reservoir. Position the pump unit in a location that allows for minimal suction lift from the evaporator's condensate tray. The slimline cover is designed to conceal the unit and line set.
  3. Connect Drain Line: Connect the condensate drain line from the evaporator coil to the inlet of the pump's reservoir. Ensure a secure, watertight connection.
  4. Connect Discharge Line: Attach the discharge tubing from the pump's outlet to a suitable drain point, ensuring a continuous downward slope to prevent water traps. The pump can lift water up to 33 feet vertically.
  5. Electrical Connections:
    • Connect the pump's power supply wires to a suitable 100-250V AC power source. Refer to the wiring diagram provided with the product for specific connections.
    • Safety Switch (NC Dry Contacts): Connect the 3A NC (Normally Closed) dry contacts to the AC unit's control circuit. This safety switch will shut down the AC unit if the pump reservoir reaches a high water level, preventing overflow. These contacts are rated at 5A inductive at 230V AC.
  6. Secure Components: Secure all tubing and electrical wiring using appropriate fasteners or clips. Install the slimline cover to conceal the line set and pump unit for a clean finish.
  7. Test Operation: After installation, power on the AC unit and observe the condensate drainage. Ensure the pump activates when the reservoir fills and effectively discharges water. Check for any leaks.

Operating Instructions

The Aspen Mini Lime pump operates automatically. When condensate water from the AC unit fills the pump's reservoir to a predetermined level, the internal float switch activates the pump. The pump then discharges the water through the drain line until the reservoir level drops, at which point the pump deactivates.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your condensate pump. It is recommended to perform maintenance at least once a year, or more frequently in dusty environments.

Cleaning the Reservoir and Filter:

  1. Disconnect Power: Always turn off the power to the AC unit and the condensate pump before performing any maintenance.
  2. Access Reservoir: The transparent reservoir easily clips off for quick access. Carefully remove the elbow cover and detach the reservoir.
  3. Clean Components: Remove any debris, sludge, or algae buildup from the reservoir, float switch, and filter screen. Use warm water and a mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  4. Inspect Tubing: Check the inlet and outlet tubing for any blockages or kinks. Clear any obstructions.
  5. Reassemble: Reattach the reservoir and elbow cover securely. Ensure all connections are tight.
  6. Test: Restore power and verify proper operation by observing the pump's cycle.

Troubleshooting

If your Aspen Mini Lime pump is not functioning as expected, refer to the following common issues and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Pump not runningNo power; Clogged reservoir/float; Safety switch activated; Motor failureCheck power supply; Clean reservoir and float; Check safety switch wiring; Contact qualified technician
Pump runs continuouslyFloat stuck; Check valve faulty; Leak in discharge line; Excessive condensate productionClean float; Inspect/replace check valve; Check for leaks; Verify AC unit size/humidity levels
Water overflow from reservoirPump not running (see above); Discharge line blocked/kinked; Pump undersizedAddress pump not running; Clear discharge line; Ensure pump capacity matches AC unit BTU/hr
Excessive noiseAir in pump; Pump not securely mounted; Debris in pumpAllow air to purge; Secure pump mounting; Clean pump/reservoir

For issues not listed or if solutions do not resolve the problem, contact Rectorseal customer support or a qualified HVAC technician.
