1. Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the GPX Portable CD/MP3 Player with USB and iPod/iPhone Docking Station. This device combines a versatile audio player with modern connectivity options, allowing you to enjoy your music from various sources including CDs, MP3 files, USB drives, and your Apple devices. Please read this manual carefully before operating the unit to ensure proper use and to maximize its performance.

2. Safety Information

To ensure safe operation and prevent damage, please observe the following precautions:

• Do not expose the unit to rain or moisture to prevent fire or shock hazards.
• Do not block ventilation openings. Ensure adequate space around the unit for proper airflow.
• Do not place the unit near heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
• Use only attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
• Unplug the unit during lightning storms or when unused for long periods.
• Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped.
• Do not open the casing. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.

5. Controls and Connections

Familiarize yourself with the various controls and connection points on your GPX unit.

5.1 Front Panel Controls

• POWER Button: Turns the unit on or off.
• FUNCTION/MODE Button: Switches between CD, USB, Radio (FM), AUX, and iPod/iPhone modes.
• VOLUME +/- Knobs: Adjusts the audio output level.
• PLAY/PAUSE Button (►/−−): Starts or pauses CD/USB/iPod playback.
• STOP Button (■): Stops CD/USB/iPod playback.
• SKIP/SEARCH Buttons (◀◀/▶▶): Skips tracks/files or searches within a track/file. In Radio mode, tunes frequency.
• REPEAT Button: Cycles through repeat modes (Repeat 1, Repeat Folder, Repeat All).
• PROGRAM Button: Programs CD/USB tracks for custom playback order.
• LCD Display: Shows current mode, track number, time, and radio frequency.
• iPod/iPhone Docking Station: Connector for compatible Apple devices.

5.2 Rear Panel Connections

• AC IN Jack: Connects the supplied AC power cable.
• USB Port: For connecting USB flash drives.
• AUX IN Jack: 3.5mm stereo input for connecting external audio devices.
• FM Telescopic Antenna: Extend for optimal FM radio reception.
• Battery Compartment: For optional battery operation (batteries not included).

6. Setup

6.1 Power Connection

Your unit can be powered by AC mains or batteries.

• AC Power: Insert the supplied AC power cable into the AC IN jack on the rear of the unit and plug the other end into a standard wall outlet.
• Battery Power (Optional): Open the battery compartment cover on the rear. Insert the required number of C-size batteries (not included), ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the cover securely. The unit will automatically switch to battery power when AC power is disconnected.

6.2 Antenna Setup

For optimal FM radio reception, fully extend the telescopic antenna located on the rear of the unit. Adjust its position for the best signal.

7. Operating Instructions

7.1 CD/MP3 Playback

1. Press the POWER button to turn on the unit.
2. Press the FUNCTION/MODE button repeatedly until "CD" appears on the LCD display.
3. Open the CD compartment cover and place a CD (audio CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3 CD, or WMA CD) onto the spindle with the label side facing up. Close the cover.
4. The unit will read the disc, and playback will begin automatically. If not, press the PLAY/PAUSE button.
5. Use the SKIP/SEARCH buttons (◀◀/▶▶) to skip tracks. Hold them down to search within a track.
6. Press the REPEAT button to cycle through repeat modes: Repeat 1 (current track), Repeat Folder (for MP3/WMA CDs), Repeat All.
7. Press the STOP button to stop playback.

7.2 Radio Operation (FM)

1. Press the POWER button to turn on the unit.
2. Press the FUNCTION/MODE button repeatedly until "FM" appears on the LCD display.
3. Extend the FM telescopic antenna for best reception.
4. Use the SKIP/SEARCH buttons (◀◀/▶▶) to manually tune to a desired frequency. Hold them down for automatic station search.
5. Adjust the VOLUME knobs to your desired listening level.

7.3 USB Playback

1. Press the POWER button to turn on the unit.
2. Insert a USB flash drive into the USB port on the rear of the unit.
3. Press the FUNCTION/MODE button repeatedly until "USB" appears on the LCD display.
4. The unit will automatically detect and begin playing compatible audio files (MP3/WMA) from the USB drive.
5. Use the PLAY/PAUSE, STOP, SKIP/SEARCH, and REPEAT buttons as you would for CD playback.

7.4 iPod/iPhone Docking

1. Press the POWER button to turn on the unit.
2. Carefully dock your compatible iPod or iPhone onto the docking connector. Ensure it is seated firmly.
3. Press the FUNCTION/MODE button repeatedly until "iPod" or "iPhone" appears on the LCD display.
4. Playback and charging of your docked device will begin. You can control playback using the unit's controls or directly from your iPod/iPhone.
5. Adjust the VOLUME knobs on the unit.

7.5 AUX Input

1. Press the POWER button to turn on the unit.
2. Connect an external audio device (e.g., MP3 player, smartphone) to the AUX IN jack on the rear of the unit using a 3.5mm stereo audio cable (not included).
3. Press the FUNCTION/MODE button repeatedly until "AUX" appears on the LCD display.
4. Playback will be controlled from your external audio device. Adjust the VOLUME knobs on the GPX unit.

7.6 Remote Control

The included remote control allows for convenient operation of most functions from a distance. Ensure the remote has working batteries and is pointed towards the front of the unit.

• POWER: On/Off
• MODE: Selects function (CD, USB, FM, AUX, iPod/iPhone)
• VOL +/-: Adjusts volume
• PLAY/PAUSE, STOP, SKIP/SEARCH, REPEAT, PROGRAM: Functions as on the main unit.
• Additional buttons may be present for specific functions depending on the remote model. Refer to the remote's markings.

8. Maintenance

Proper care will ensure long-lasting performance from your unit.

• Cleaning: Wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
• CD Lens Care: Do not touch the CD lens. If the lens is dirty, use a commercially available CD lens cleaner.
• Storage: If the unit will not be used for a long period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage. Store in a cool, dry place.
