5. Setup and Installation

5.1 Mounting

  1. Identify a suitable mounting location where the switch's roller lever actuator can be reliably engaged by the moving part of your machinery.
  2. Ensure the mounting surface is flat and stable.
  3. Mark the drilling points using the specified mounting hole distance of 56 x 21mm (2.2" x 0.83") and a mounting hole diameter of 4.4mm (0.17").
  4. Drill the mounting holes.
  5. Secure the limit switch using appropriate fasteners (not included) through the mounting holes. Ensure the switch is firmly attached and does not wobble.
  6. Adjust the position of the switch so that the roller lever actuator is properly engaged and disengaged by the moving part at the desired limit points.

5.2 Wiring

The ME-8108 is a SPDT (Single Pole Double Throw) switch, meaning it has one common terminal and two output terminals: one Normally Open (NO) and one Normally Closed (NC). This allows for flexible integration into various control circuits.

  1. Before wiring, ensure all power to the circuit is disconnected.
  2. Open the wiring cover on the switch body.
  3. Connect the common wire to the designated common terminal.
  4. Connect your control circuit wire to either the NO or NC terminal, depending on your application's logic.
  5. Ensure all wire connections are tight and secure to prevent loose contacts or short circuits. Use appropriate wire sizes for the rated current.
  6. Close the wiring cover securely to maintain dust and oil protection.

6. Operation

The uxcell ME-8108 is a momentary limit switch with an automatic reset function. This means the switch contacts change state only while the actuator is physically pressed or engaged. Once the actuator is released, it automatically returns to its original position, and the contacts revert to their default (unactuated) state.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and reliable operation of your limit switch.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your uxcell ME-8108 limit switch, refer to the following troubleshooting guide:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Switch not activating/deactivating
  • Improper actuator alignment
  • Damaged actuator mechanism
  • Loose or incorrect wiring
  • No power to the circuit
  • Adjust the switch position to ensure proper engagement with the moving part.
  • Inspect the actuator for damage; replace the switch if damaged.
  • Check all wiring connections for tightness and correctness (NO/NC).
  • Verify power supply to the control circuit.
Intermittent operation
  • Loose wiring connections
  • Actuator sticking or obstructed
  • Excessive vibration
  • Tighten all terminal connections.
  • Clean the actuator area; ensure free movement.
  • Secure the switch mounting to reduce vibration.
Switch contacts remain open/closed
  • Actuator stuck in pressed position
  • Internal contact damage
  • Check for obstructions preventing the actuator from returning.
  • If the actuator moves freely but contacts don't reset, the switch may be faulty and require replacement.
