2. Safety Information
- Do not immerse the lid assembly in water or any other liquid. This can damage the electronic components.
- Do not force the lid open or closed manually, as this may damage the motor and gears.
- Use only the specified battery type (3x C batteries). Ensure correct polarity during installation.
- Keep the trash can away from direct sunlight or strong artificial light sources, as these can interfere with the infrared sensor.

3. Package Contents

4. Setup Instructions
- Battery Installation:
- Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the lid.
- Open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert three (3) C-sized batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
- Liner Ring Installation:
- Place the liner ring inside the top rim of the trash can base.
- Drape your trash bag over the liner ring, then push the edges of the bag down into the can.
- The liner ring will hold the trash bag securely in place and conceal any excess bag for a neat appearance.

- Lid Placement:
- Carefully place the lid assembly onto the trash can base, aligning it properly.
- Initial Power-On:
- Once batteries are installed and the lid is in place, the trash can is ready for use. The sensor will activate automatically.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Motion Sensor Operation
The NINESTARS DZT-50-13 features an infrared motion sensor for hands-free operation:
- To open the lid, pass your hand or an object within approximately 10 inches (25 cm) and a 130-degree angle from the infrared sensor located on the lid.
- The lid will automatically open.
- The lid will remain open as long as your hand or object stays within the sensor's range.
- Three seconds after your hand or object moves away from the sensor, the lid will automatically close.

5.2 Manual Operation
For situations requiring the lid to stay open longer, or for manual control:
- Open Button: Press the "OPEN" button on the lid to keep the lid open indefinitely.
- Close Button: Press the "CLOSE" button to close the lid when it is manually held open, or to reset the sensor if it was interrupted.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
- Exterior: The stainless steel body is fingerprint-resistant. Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth and mild detergent if necessary. Dry thoroughly with a soft, dry cloth to prevent water spots.
- Lid: Gently wipe the lid, especially around the sensor window, with a soft, damp cloth. Ensure no moisture enters the battery compartment or sensor area. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
- Interior: Clean the interior of the trash can base with a mild household cleaner and rinse thoroughly. Ensure it is completely dry before reinserting the liner ring and lid.
6.2 Battery Replacement
When the lid's operation becomes slow or inconsistent, it is time to replace the batteries. Refer to Section 4.1 for battery installation instructions. Battery life is approximately 6 months with normal daily usage.
