  • Torque Wrench
  • Pry Bar or Exhaust Hanger Removal Tool
  • Penetrating Oil (e.g., WD-40)
  • Safety Glasses
  • Gloves
  • Vehicle Lift or Jack Stands

5. Setup and Installation

Preparation:

  1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  2. Allow the exhaust system to cool completely.
  3. Safely lift the rear of the vehicle using a lift or jack stands to provide adequate working space.
  4. Locate the factory axle-back exhaust section.

Removal of Factory Exhaust:

  1. Apply penetrating oil to the factory exhaust clamp and hanger bushings to aid in removal.
  2. Using a socket wrench, loosen the clamp connecting the factory axle-back section to the mid-pipe.
  3. Carefully remove the exhaust hangers from their rubber isolators using a pry bar or exhaust hanger removal tool.
  4. Once all clamps are loose and hangers are free, carefully remove the entire factory axle-back exhaust assembly from the vehicle.

Installation of RED ROCK Exhaust:

  1. Position the new RED ROCK axle-back muffler assembly under the vehicle.
  2. Insert the hangers on the new muffler assembly into the factory rubber isolators.
  3. Slide the inlet pipe of the new muffler assembly onto the mid-pipe, ensuring a snug fit.
  4. Install one of the provided exhaust clamps over the connection point between the new muffler assembly and the mid-pipe. Do not fully tighten yet.
  5. Install the two black exhaust tips onto the dual outlets of the muffler assembly. Use the remaining two clamps to secure them. Do not fully tighten yet.
  6. Adjust the position of the entire exhaust system to ensure proper alignment and clearance from other vehicle components. Ensure the tips are centered and level.
  7. Once satisfied with the alignment, progressively tighten all exhaust clamps to the manufacturer's recommended torque specifications.
  8. Double-check all connections and hangers for security.

6. Operating Instructions

Initial Start-Up and Inspection:

  1. After installation, lower the vehicle safely.
  2. Start the engine and listen for any exhaust leaks. Leaks can often be identified by a hissing sound. If leaks are detected, re-tighten clamps or adjust connections as necessary.
  3. Allow the engine to run for a few minutes to reach operating temperature. The exhaust system may emit a slight odor as it heats up for the first time; this is normal.
  4. Perform a visual inspection to ensure adequate clearance between the exhaust system and all other vehicle components (e.g., suspension, fuel lines, body panels).
  5. Drive the vehicle for a short period, then re-check all clamps for tightness after the exhaust has cooled.

7. Maintenance

  • Regular Inspection: Periodically inspect the exhaust system for any signs of damage, corrosion, or loose connections. Check rubber hangers for wear or cracking.
  • Clamp Tightness: Re-check the tightness of all exhaust clamps every 3,000-5,000 miles or during routine vehicle maintenance.
  • Cleaning: The black tips can be cleaned with a mild automotive cleaner and a soft cloth to maintain their appearance. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Corrosion Prevention: While made from durable 409 stainless steel, regular cleaning, especially in areas exposed to road salt or harsh chemicals, can extend the life and appearance of the system.

8. Troubleshooting
