  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  • To protect against electric shock, do not immerse cord, plugs, or the main unit in water or other liquid.
  • Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  • Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts.
  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  • Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.
  • Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to 'off', then remove plug from wall outlet.
  • Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
  • This appliance cooks under pressure. Improper use may result in scalding injury. Ensure unit is properly closed before operating.
  • Never fill the unit above the MAX fill line.
  • Do not open the pressure cooker until the unit has cooled and all internal pressure has been released. If the handles are difficult to push apart, this indicates that the cooker is still pressurized.
  • Always check the steam release valve and float valve for clogging before use.
  • Use caution when releasing steam from the pressure release valve. Keep hands and face clear of the steam vent.

  4. Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet. The display will show '0000'.
  5. Select your desired cooking function from the control panel.
  6. The cooker will automatically begin the preheating process, then build pressure, and finally start the cooking countdown.
  7. Once cooking is complete, the unit will beep and automatically switch to the 'Keep Warm' function.

Cooking Functions

The EPC-1013 features 8 pre-set multifunctions for various dishes:

  • Rice: For cooking various types of rice.
  • Potatoes & Yams: Ideal for tender potatoes and yams.
  • Meat & Chicken: Optimized for cooking different cuts of meat and poultry.
  • Pork: Specific setting for pork dishes.
  • Fish & Vegetables: Gentle cooking for delicate fish and vegetables.
  • Beans & Grains: Perfect for legumes and various grains.
  • Soup & Stews: For rich and flavorful soups and stews.
  • Desserts: Suitable for preparing various desserts.

Delay Timer Function

The 24-hour delay timer allows you to program the cooking process to begin at a later time. After selecting a cooking function, press the 'Delay Timer' button and adjust the desired delay time using the '+' and '-' buttons. The cooker will start automatically after the set delay.

Browning Function

The browning function allows you to sauté or brown ingredients before pressure cooking. This function operates without the lid sealed. Refer to the specific recipe for browning instructions.

Keep Warm Function

After the cooking cycle is complete, the pressure cooker automatically switches to the 'Keep Warm' setting to maintain food temperature until serving. This function can also be manually selected.

Releasing Pressure

There are two methods for releasing pressure:

  • Natural Release: Allow the pressure to dissipate naturally. This is recommended for foamy foods or large cuts of meat. The float valve will drop when pressure is fully released.
  • Quick Release: Carefully turn the steam release valve to the 'Venting' position. Steam will rapidly escape. Keep hands and face clear of the steam. Once the float valve drops, pressure is released.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures the longevity and proper functioning of your pressure cooker.

Cleaning the Inner Pot

The nonstick inner cooking pot is removable for easy cleaning. Wash with warm, soapy water and a non-abrasive sponge. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

Cleaning the Lid and Gasket

Remove the sealing gasket from the lid and wash both the lid and gasket with warm, soapy water. Pay attention to the steam release valve and float valve areas to ensure they are free of food debris. Rinse and dry completely before reassembling.

Cleaning the Exterior

Wipe the exterior of the main unit with a damp cloth. Never immerse the main unit in water or any other liquid.
