Verify that all items are present in your package. If any items are missing or damaged, please contact your vendor.

3. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your Aastra 6863i IP Phone:

  1. Attach the Desk Stand: Align the tabs on the desk stand with the slots on the back of the phone unit and snap it into place. This allows the phone to sit at an optimal viewing angle.

  2. Connect the Handset: Plug one end of the coiled handset cord into the handset and the other end into the handset port on the phone unit (usually marked with a handset icon).

  3. Connect to Network and Power:

    • Using Power over Ethernet (PoE): Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the LAN port on the phone (often labeled with a network icon) and the other end to a PoE-enabled network switch or router. The phone will power on automatically.
    • Using an Optional AC Adapter: If PoE is not available, connect an optional Efficiency Level "V" compliant AC power adapter (not included) to the power port on the phone and then to a power outlet. Then, connect the Ethernet cable from your network to the LAN port on the phone.
  4. Initial Boot-up: The phone will begin its boot-up sequence. The display will show various messages as it connects to the network and registers with your IP PBX system. This process may take a few moments.

  5. Configuration: The phone supports Manual or Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) IP address setup. Your network administrator will typically configure the phone's network settings and line registrations automatically. If manual configuration is required, refer to your system administrator's instructions.
