  1. Position the Pump: Place the filter pump on a firm, level surface, at least 2 feet (0.6 meters) away from the pool wall. Ensure the pump is lower than the water level of the pool.
  2. Install Plunger Valves: Attach the two plunger valves to the pool's inlet and outlet fittings. Ensure they are securely tightened.
  3. Connect Hoses:
    • Connect one 3.20 cm (1.25") ID hose from the lower plunger valve (pool outlet) to the pump's inlet connection (marked "IN" or with an arrow pointing towards the pump).
    • Connect the second 3.20 cm (1.25") ID hose from the pump's outlet connection (marked "OUT" or with an arrow pointing away from the pump) to the upper plunger valve (pool inlet).

Note: Ensure all hose clamps are tightened securely to prevent leaks.

  4. Install Filter Cartridge: Open the filter housing cover, insert the Type "A" filter cartridge, and then securely close the cover.
  5. Prime the Pump:

    • Loosen the air release valve on top of the filter housing until water begins to flow out. Close the air release valve once a steady stream of water appears.

5. Operating Instructions

Once the pump is set up and primed, you can begin operating it to filter your pool water.

  1. Start the Pump: Plug the pump into the electrical outlet. The pump will begin to circulate and filter the pool water.
  2. Run Time: Operate the filter pump for approximately 2-4 hours per day, depending on pool size, usage, and water condition. For optimal water clarity, it is recommended to run the pump for longer durations during heavy use or warmer weather.
  3. Monitor Water Flow: Periodically check the water flow from the pump's return jet into the pool to ensure proper operation. Reduced flow may indicate a clogged filter cartridge or air in the system.
  4. Shutting Down: To turn off the pump, simply unplug it from the electrical outlet. If you need to perform maintenance or stop water flow, close the plunger valves on the pool's inlet and outlet.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and efficient performance of your filter pump.

6.1 Filter Cartridge Cleaning and Replacement

  • Frequency: The Type "A" filter cartridge should be cleaned every few days and replaced every two weeks, or more frequently depending on pool usage and water conditions.
  • Cleaning:
    1. Disconnect the pump from the power source.
    2. Close both plunger valves to prevent water from flowing out of the pool.
    3. Unscrew the filter housing cover.
    4. Remove the filter cartridge.
    5. Rinse the cartridge thoroughly with a garden hose to remove debris. Do not use a high-pressure washer as it can damage the filter material.
    6. If the cartridge remains dirty or discolored after rinsing, it should be replaced.
    7. Reinsert the clean or new cartridge and secure the filter housing cover.
    8. Open the plunger valves and prime the pump as described in the setup section.
    9. Reconnect the pump to the power source.

6.2 Winterization

Before freezing temperatures arrive, the filter pump must be drained and stored.

  • Disconnect the pump from the power source.
  • Disconnect all hoses from the pump and pool.
  • Remove the filter cartridge.
  • Drain all water from the pump housing.
  • Store the pump and hoses in a dry, frost-free location.
