Key Components:

Setup and Installation

Installation of a mortise deadlock requires precision and familiarity with door hardware. If you are unsure about any step, it is recommended to consult a professional locksmith or installer.

Tools Required:

Installation Steps:

  1. Prepare the Door: Mark the desired location for the mortise pocket on the door edge and face. Ensure the lock will be at a comfortable height.
  2. Cut the Mortise Pocket: Carefully cut the mortise pocket into the door edge and face according to the lock body dimensions. This requires a mortise chisel or a specialized mortising machine. Ensure the pocket is deep enough for the lock body to sit flush.
  3. Drill Cylinder Holes: Drill holes through the door face for the key cylinders, aligning them with the lock body's cylinder openings.
  4. Install Lock Body: Insert the mortise lock body into the prepared pocket. Secure it with screws through the faceplate into the door edge.
  5. Install Cylinders: Insert the 6-pin cylinders into the appropriate holes from both sides of the door. Secure them to the lock body using the provided set screws or retaining rings.
  6. Install Strike Plate: Close the door and mark the position of the deadbolt on the door frame. Chisel out a recess for the strike plate and drill a hole for the deadbolt throw. Secure the strike plate with screws.
  7. Test Operation: Insert a key into both cylinders and test the deadbolt's operation. Ensure it extends and retracts smoothly and fully engages with the strike plate.

Important: Ensure all screws are tightened securely, but do not overtighten, which could strip the threads or damage the door.

Operating Instructions

The Corbin Russwin DL4112-605 is a double cylinder deadlock, meaning it requires a key for both locking and unlocking from either side of the door.

  1. To Lock: Insert one of the provided nickel silver keys into the cylinder on either side of the door. Rotate the key 360 degrees until the deadbolt is fully extended into the strike plate. Remove the key.
  2. To Unlock: Insert one of the provided nickel silver keys into the cylinder on either side of the door. Rotate the key 360 degrees in the opposite direction until the deadbolt is fully retracted into the lock body. Remove the key.

Note: Always ensure the deadbolt is fully extended when locking for maximum security. Do not leave keys in the cylinders when not in use.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance will ensure the longevity and smooth operation of your deadlock.
