2. Setup and Installation

2.1 Unboxing and Contents Verification

Before beginning installation, carefully unbox your ASRock D1800M motherboard and verify all contents against the packing list. Typical contents include:

2.2 Motherboard Installation in Chassis

1. Install the I/O shield into the rear opening of your computer chassis. Ensure it snaps securely into place.
2. Carefully align the motherboard with the standoffs inside the chassis. The integrated Intel J1800 CPU does not require separate installation.
3. Secure the motherboard to the chassis using appropriate screws. Do not overtighten.

2.3 Memory (RAM) Installation

The ASRock D1800M supports DDR3(L) DIMMs. It has two memory slots.

1. Open the clips at both ends of the DIMM slot.
2. Align the notch on the DDR3 memory module with the notch in the DIMM slot.
3. Insert the memory module firmly into the slot until the clips snap into place.

2.4 Storage Device Installation (SATA)

Connect your SATA hard drives or solid-state drives to the SATA2 ports on the motherboard using the provided SATA data cables. Ensure the power cables from your power supply are also connected to the drives.

2.5 Expansion Card Installation (PCI-Express)

If installing a PCI-Express expansion card (e.g., a graphics card in the x16 slot or other cards in the x1 slots):

1. Remove the corresponding slot cover from your chassis.
2. Align the card with the PCI-Express slot and press firmly until it is seated correctly.
3. Secure the card with a screw to the chassis.

2.6 Power Connections

Connect the 24-pin ATX power connector from your power supply to the corresponding header on the motherboard.

2.7 Connecting Peripherals

Connect your keyboard, mouse, monitor (via VGA, DVI-D, or HDMI), Ethernet cable, and any other USB devices to the appropriate ports on the rear I/O panel.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Initial Boot-Up

After all components are installed and connected, power on your system. The system should display the ASRock logo and enter the BIOS/UEFI setup utility or begin booting from an installed operating system.

3.2 BIOS/UEFI Setup

To enter the BIOS/UEFI setup utility, press the Del or F2 key during the initial boot sequence. Here you can configure system settings, boot order, and monitor hardware status.
