1. Product Overview

The Steinbach SPS 100-1T self-priming filter pump is designed to be the central component of your pool's circulation system. This robust pump features a pre-filter and an integrated timer, making it suitable for pools up to approximately 40,000 liters (10,567 gallons) in volume. It operates on 230V/550W power and offers a pumping capacity of 9,480 liters per hour (158 l/min) with a maximum pump height of 10 meters.

The pump is designed for durability and efficiency, ensuring clean and clear pool water. It is compatible with hose connections of Ø 32/38 mm and can operate with water temperatures up to 35 °C.

2. Safety Instructions

3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all parts are present and undamaged. Refer to the packing list for a complete inventory.

3.2 Placement

Position the pump on a firm, level surface, preferably below the water level of the pool for optimal self-priming. Ensure adequate ventilation around the pump to prevent overheating. The pump should be placed in a location protected from direct sunlight and adverse weather conditions.

3.3 Connecting Hoses

Connect the pool's suction line to the inlet of the pump (the side with the pre-filter) and the return line to the outlet. The pump is designed for Ø 32/38 mm hose connections. Secure all hose connections with appropriate clamps to prevent leaks.

3.4 Priming the Pump

Before first use, or after the pump has been drained, it must be primed. Open the pre-filter lid and fill the pre-filter basket and pump housing completely with water. Replace the lid securely. This ensures the pump does not run dry, which can cause damage.

3.5 Electrical Connection

Connect the pump to a grounded 230V power outlet. Ensure the electrical circuit is protected by a Residual Current Device (RCD) for safety. Do not use extension cords unless absolutely necessary, and ensure they are rated for outdoor use and the pump's power requirements.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Starting and Stopping the Pump

Once the pump is primed and all connections are secure, press the ON/OFF button on the control panel to start the pump. Press it again to stop the pump.

4.2 Using the Integrated Timer

The SPS 100-1T pump features an integrated timer for automated operation. Use the TIMER button to set the desired operating duration. The control panel typically has indicators for various time settings (e.g., 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 24 hours). Select the appropriate duration based on your pool's size and usage to ensure adequate filtration.

4.3 Optimal Filtration Time

For optimal water quality, it is generally recommended to filter the entire volume of your pool water at least once per day. The required filtration time depends on the pump's flow rate and your pool's volume. For this pump with a flow rate of 9,480 l/h, a 40,000-liter pool would require approximately 4.2 hours of filtration per day (40,000 L / 9,480 L/h ≈ 4.2 h).

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning the Pre-Filter Basket

The pre-filter basket collects larger debris and should be cleaned regularly to maintain pump efficiency.

  1. Turn off the pump and disconnect it from the power supply.
  2. Unscrew the transparent lid of the pre-filter.
  3. Remove the pre-filter basket and empty any collected debris.
  4. Rinse the basket thoroughly with clean water.
  5. Inspect the O-ring seal on the lid for damage and ensure it is clean.
  6. Place the clean basket back into the housing and securely screw on the lid.
  7. Re-prime the pump if necessary before restarting.

5.2 Winterization

Before the first frost, the pump must be drained and stored in a frost-free environment.
