1. Introduction

This manual provides essential instructions for the safe assembly, operation, and maintenance of your Bugaboo Buffalo Stroller Base. Please read all instructions carefully before use and retain this manual for future reference. The Bugaboo Buffalo Stroller Base is designed for children from birth up to 3 years of age, with a maximum weight recommendation of 50 pounds.

2. Safety Information

WARNING: Failure to follow these warnings and instructions could result in serious injury or death.

  • Never leave your child unattended in the stroller.
  • Always use the five-point harness to secure your child. Ensure it is correctly fitted and adjusted.
  • Ensure all locking devices are engaged before use.
  • Do not overload the stroller with additional children or bags beyond the recommended weight limits.
  • The stroller is suitable for children from birth up to 50 pounds (approximately 3 years).
  • Do not use accessories or replacement parts other than those approved by Bugaboo.
  • Be aware of the risk of open fires and other sources of strong heat, such as electric bar fires, gas fires, etc., in the near vicinity of the stroller.
  • Always engage the brakes when the stroller is stationary.
  • Avoid placing hot liquids or heavy objects in the storage basket.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all components are present and undamaged before assembly. If any parts are missing or damaged, do not use the product and contact Bugaboo customer support.

4. Setup

4.1 Attaching the Wheels

  1. Unfold the stroller chassis until it locks into place.
  2. Insert the rear wheels into the axle until you hear a click. Pull to ensure they are securely fastened.
  3. Insert the front swivel wheels into the front leg openings until they click.

4.2 Attaching the Seat/Bassinet Frame

  1. Align the seat/bassinet frame with the attachment points on the chassis.
  2. Press down firmly until both sides click into place.
  3. Ensure the frame is securely attached by gently pulling upwards.

4.3 Harness Adjustment

The five-point harness is height-adjustable to accommodate your growing child. Adjust the shoulder straps to the appropriate height so they are at or slightly above your child's shoulders.

  1. Unthread the shoulder straps from the back of the seat.
  2. Re-thread them through the desired shoulder slot.
  3. Ensure all straps are free from twists and are securely fastened.

5. Operating the Stroller

5.1 Handlebar Adjustment

The handlebar can be adjusted to multiple positions for comfortable pushing.

  1. Locate the adjustment buttons on either side of the handlebar.
  2. Press the buttons simultaneously and move the handlebar to the desired height.
  3. Release the buttons to lock the handlebar in place.

5.2 Folding and Unfolding

The Bugaboo Buffalo Stroller Base can be folded for compact storage and transport.

  1. To Fold: Ensure the seat/bassinet is removed or in the correct position (refer to specific seat/bassinet manual). Engage the brake. Locate the folding triggers on the chassis. Press and hold the triggers while pushing the handlebar down and forward until the stroller collapses and locks.
  2. To Unfold: Release the folding lock. Lift the handlebar upwards until the chassis fully extends and locks into the open position.

5.3 Brake Operation

The foot-operated brake is located near the rear wheels.

  • To Engage: Press the brake pedal down firmly with your foot until it clicks.
  • To Disengage: Lift the brake pedal up with your foot.

Always engage the brake when the stroller is stationary.

5.4 All-Terrain Suitability

The Bugaboo Buffalo is designed with large wheels for all-terrain use. For rougher terrain, you can lock the front swivel wheels for increased stability. To lock, push the lever above each front wheel down. To unlock, lift the lever up.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning Fabrics

All fabrics on the Bugaboo Buffalo Stroller Base are machine washable. Refer to the care labels on individual fabric components for specific washing instructions. Generally, wash on a cold cycle with mild detergent and air dry.

6.2 Cleaning the Chassis and Wheels

  • Wipe the chassis with a damp cloth and mild soap. Dry thoroughly.
  • Regularly clean dirt and debris from the wheels and axle areas to ensure smooth operation.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

6.3 Storage

7. Troubleshooting

  • Stroller not folding/unfolding smoothly: Check for any obstructions in the folding mechanism. Ensure all levers and buttons are fully engaged or disengaged as required.
  • Wheels squeaking or stiff: Clean any dirt or debris from the wheel axles. A small amount of silicone-based lubricant can be applied to moving parts if necessary.
  • Harness difficult to adjust: Ensure straps are not twisted. Check that the adjustment buckles are free from debris.
  • Brake not engaging: Check for obstructions around the brake mechanism. Ensure the pedal is fully depressed.
