Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your TL-SG108E switch, refer to the following common troubleshooting tips:

  • No Power:
    • Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to the switch and a working power outlet.
    • Verify the power outlet is functional by plugging in another device.
  • No Link/Activity LED:
    • Check that the Ethernet cable is securely plugged into both the switch port and the connected device.
    • Try a different Ethernet cable to rule out a faulty cable.
    • Ensure the connected device is powered on and its network adapter is functioning correctly.
    • Try connecting the device to a different port on the switch.
  • Slow Network Speed:
    • Ensure all connected devices and cables support Gigabit Ethernet (Cat5e or higher cables are recommended for Gigabit speeds).
    • Check for excessive network traffic or bandwidth-intensive applications running on your network.
    • If using advanced features like QoS, ensure they are configured correctly to prioritize critical traffic.
  • Accessing Management Interface Issues:
    • Ensure your computer is on the same network segment as the switch.
    • Verify the IP address of the switch and your computer.
    • Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software on your computer that might be blocking access.
    • If you forget the login credentials or IP address, you can perform a factory reset by pressing and holding the reset button on the rear panel for approximately 5-8 seconds until the LEDs flash. This will revert the switch to its default settings.
