Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials from the coffee maker and its accessories. Retain packaging for storage or future transport if needed.
- Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the carafe, lid, and filter basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth.
- Placement: Place the coffee maker on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface, away from the edge of the counter. Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the unit. Do not place it on a hot surface or near a hot gas or electric burner.
- First Brew Cycle (Cleaning): Fill the water reservoir with cold water up to the 10-cup mark. Place the empty filter basket with a paper filter (or reusable filter if included) into position. Do not add coffee grounds. Close the lid. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate. Plug the power cord into a standard electrical outlet. Press the ON/OFF switch to start a brewing cycle. Allow the full cycle to complete. Discard the water from the carafe. Repeat this process once or twice to ensure the unit is clean.
Operating Instructions
- Fill Water Reservoir: Open the lid and fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water to the desired number of cups, using the water level indicator on the side of the reservoir. Do not exceed the 10-cup maximum fill line.
- Add Coffee Grounds: Place a paper filter (cone-shaped or basket-style, depending on your model) into the filter basket, or use the provided reusable filter. Add the desired amount of ground coffee. A general guideline is one level tablespoon of ground coffee per cup, but adjust to your personal taste.
- Position Carafe: Ensure the filter basket is securely in place and close the lid. Place the empty glass carafe with its lid on the warming plate.
- Start Brewing: Plug the coffee maker into a standard electrical outlet. Press the ON/OFF switch. The indicator light will illuminate, and the brewing process will begin.
- Serving: Once the brewing cycle is complete, the coffee maker will automatically switch to a "keep warm" mode. The warming plate will keep the coffee hot. For best flavor, serve coffee immediately after brewing.
- Automatic Shut-Off: The coffee maker is equipped with an automatic shut-off feature for safety and energy saving. It will turn off after approximately 2 hours of keeping warm.
Important: Do not open the lid or remove the carafe during the brewing cycle as hot water or steam may escape and cause injury.
Maintenance
Daily Cleaning
- Unplug: Always unplug the coffee maker from the electrical outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Carafe and Filter Basket: Remove the carafe and filter basket. Discard used coffee grounds and filter. Wash the carafe, carafe lid, and filter basket in warm, soapy water. These parts are generally top-rack dishwasher safe, but hand washing is recommended to prolong their life. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not immerse the coffee maker in water or any other liquid.
- Warming Plate: Wipe the warming plate with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as they may scratch the surface.
Descaling (Decalcification)
Mineral deposits (lime scale) from water can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting its performance and the taste of your coffee. Descaling should be performed regularly, depending on the hardness of your water and frequency of use (e.g., every 2-4 weeks).
- Prepare Solution: Mix 4 cups of white vinegar with 6 cups of cold water. Alternatively, use a commercial descaling solution designed for coffee makers, following the product's instructions.
- Run Cycle: Pour the descaling solution into the water reservoir. Place an empty paper filter (or reusable filter) in the filter basket and position the empty carafe on the warming plate. Turn on the coffee maker and allow half of the solution to brew through.
- Soak: Turn off the coffee maker and let it stand for 15-20 minutes to allow the solution to work on the deposits.
- Complete Cycle: Turn the coffee maker back on and allow the remaining solution to brew through. Discard the solution from the carafe.
- Rinse Cycles: Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water and run two full brewing cycles with only water to rinse out any remaining descaling solution. Discard the water after each cycle.
Your coffee maker is now descaled and ready for use.
