Introduction
The Camco Power Grip RV 30-Amp Voltage Protector with Integrated Surge Protection is designed to safeguard your recreational vehicle (RV) and its appliances from electrical hazards. This device monitors incoming power for high or low voltage levels and power surges, automatically disconnecting your RV if unsafe conditions are detected. It also features diagnostic LEDs to indicate wiring faults at the power pedestal, ensuring a safe electrical connection.
Safety Information
WARNING: This product may contain materials cautioned by California Proposition 65. Always ensure proper handling and usage according to instructions.
Always turn off the circuit breaker at the power pedestal before inserting or removing the plug. The plug must be fully inserted or removed to prevent electrical hazards. The Power Grip handle design helps keep fingers away from electrical prongs, reducing the risk of electrical shock.
Setup and Connection
- Determine RV Amperage: Before connecting, identify if your RV operates on 30-Amp or 50-Amp service. This voltage protector is designed for 30-Amp RVs.
- Inspect Power Pedestal: Visually inspect the power pedestal's receptacle for any visible damage or debris.
- Turn Off Power: Ensure the circuit breaker at the power pedestal is in the 'OFF' position.
- Connect Voltage Protector: Insert the male end (NEMA TT-30P) of the Camco Power Grip RV 30-Amp Voltage Protector into the 30-Amp receptacle on the power pedestal. Ensure it is fully seated. The ergonomic Power Grip handle facilitates easy and secure connection.

- Turn On Power: Flip the circuit breaker at the power pedestal to the 'ON' position.
Operating and Diagnostic LEDs
The Camco Power Grip RV 30-Amp Voltage Protector continuously monitors the incoming power and provides diagnostic feedback through its LED indicators. This device protects against high voltage (>132 VAC), low voltage (<102 VAC), and power surges up to 2,800 Joules. It also detects wiring faults such as reverse polarity and open neutral.
Diagnostic LED Indicators:
- Power Up (Blinking Green): Indicates the unit is performing an initial circuit check.
- Power OK (Solid Green): Indicates a safe and stable power connection (voltage between 102V-132V).
- Over/Under Voltage (Red/Yellow): If the voltage is outside the safe range (102V-132V), the unit will automatically disconnect power after 8-10 seconds. It will automatically reconnect once the voltage stabilizes within the normal range for over 2 minutes and 20 seconds.
- Wiring Faults (Red/Yellow combinations): Specific LED patterns indicate wiring issues like reverse polarity, open neutral, or other faults. Refer to the label on the unit for detailed fault codes.

Maintenance
The Camco Power Grip RV 30-Amp Voltage Protector is designed to be weatherproof and withstand adverse conditions. For optimal performance and longevity:
- Positioning: When in use, ensure the unit is installed in an upright position to prevent water accumulation.
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe the exterior of the unit with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Storage: When not in use, store the voltage protector in a dry, protected area.
Troubleshooting
- No Power to RV: Check the diagnostic LEDs on the voltage protector. If a red or yellow light is illuminated, it indicates a wiring fault or an over/under voltage condition. The unit will automatically disconnect power in these situations.
- Over/Under Voltage: If the voltage is outside the 102V-132V range, the unit will disconnect. Wait for the power to stabilize; the unit will automatically reconnect after approximately 2 minutes and 20 seconds of stable voltage. If the issue persists, consider moving to a different power pedestal or contacting campground management.
- Wiring Faults: If diagnostic LEDs indicate a wiring fault (e.g., reverse polarity, open neutral), do not connect your RV to that power pedestal. Contact campground management immediately to report the issue.
- Unit Buzzing: A slight buzzing sound can sometimes occur. If the buzzing is excessively loud or accompanied by other issues, contact Camco customer support.
