What's in the Box

Your iRobot Roomba 671 package includes the following components:

  • iRobot Roomba 671 Robot Vacuum
  • Home Base Charging Station
  • Line Cord
  • 1 Extra Filter
  • 1 Flat Edge Brush
  • Owner's Guide and Documentation Package

Setup

1. Place the Home Base Charging Station

Select a permanent location for the Home Base. Ensure it is on a level surface, against a wall, and has at least 1.5 feet (0.5 meters) of clear space on each side and 4 feet (1.2 meters) in front. Keep the area clear of clutter and obstacles to allow the Roomba to easily dock.

2. Charge the Battery

Plug the line cord into the Home Base and then into a wall outlet. Place your Roomba onto the Home Base, ensuring the metal charging contacts on the robot align with those on the Home Base. The battery indicator light will pulse amber while charging and turn solid green when fully charged. Allow at least 3 hours for the initial charge.

3. Download the iRobot HOME App

For full functionality and smart features, download the iRobot HOME app on your smartphone or tablet. The app will guide you through connecting your Roomba to your Wi-Fi network and setting up cleaning schedules.

Operating Instructions

Starting a Cleaning Cycle

To start a cleaning cycle, simply press the CLEAN button on the top of your Roomba or use the iRobot HOME app. The robot will automatically begin cleaning and return to its Home Base when the cleaning cycle is complete or when its battery is low.

Scheduling Cleanings

Use the iRobot HOME app to set up daily or weekly cleaning schedules. This allows your Roomba to clean automatically at your preferred times, ensuring your floors are always tidy.

Adaptive Navigation and Dirt Detect™ Technology

The Roomba 671 utilizes a full suite of advanced sensors to navigate your home. It intelligently moves under and around furniture, along edges, and avoids falling down stairs thanks to Cliff Detect sensors. Dirt Detect™ Sensors alert the robot to concentrated areas of dirt, such as high-traffic zones, prompting it to clean those spots more thoroughly.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance is crucial for optimal performance of your Roomba 671. Follow these guidelines:

Emptying the Dust Bin

Empty the dust bin after each cleaning cycle, especially if you have pets or high-traffic areas. Press the bin release button and slide out the bin. Open the bin door and discard debris.

Cleaning the Filter

Remove the filter from the dust bin and tap it against a trash can to remove debris. Do not wash the filter. Replace the filter every 2-3 months, or more frequently with heavy use.

Cleaning the Brushes

Periodically remove and clean the Multi-Surface Brushes and the Edge-Sweeping Brush. Use the cleaning tool provided to remove hair and debris wrapped around the brushes. Ensure the brush bearings are free of hair and debris.

Cleaning the Charging Contacts and Sensors

Wipe the charging contacts on both the Roomba and the Home Base with a clean, dry cloth. Also, wipe the Cliff Sensors and other sensors on the robot to ensure proper navigation.

Troubleshooting

If your Roomba encounters an issue, the robot will play an audible alert and the CLEAN button will flash. Consult the iRobot HOME app for specific error messages and troubleshooting steps. Here are some common issues:

  • Roomba not charging or returning to Home Base: Ensure the Home Base is plugged in and has sufficient clear space. Clean the charging contacts on both the robot and the Home Base.
  • Roomba getting stuck frequently: Clear obstacles from the cleaning area. The robot may get stuck on loose cables, thick rugs, or under low furniture. Consider using Virtual Wall Barriers (sold separately) to block off problematic areas.
  • Poor cleaning performance: Empty the dust bin, clean or replace the filter, and clean the main brushes and side brush. Ensure the brushes are free of tangled hair and debris.
  • Short battery life: Battery life can vary based on usage and floor type. Ensure the robot is fully charged before each cycle. If the battery life significantly degrades, it may need replacement.

For more detailed troubleshooting, refer to the official User Guide PDF available online or through the iRobot HOME app.
