5. Setup Guide

6. Operating Instructions

This section details the operation of both the hot air gun and the soldering iron functions.

6.1. Powering On/Off

1. To power on the unit, flip the main power switch located on the right side of the front panel to the "ON" position. The LCD displays will illuminate.
2. To power off, flip the main power switch to the "OFF" position. The unit will begin its cool-down process for the hot air gun before fully shutting down.

6.2. Understanding the LCD Display and Controls

The AT8502D features two separate LCD screens for the hot air rework and soldering station functions, providing real-time feedback on temperature and air volume settings.

• Top LCD (SMD Rework): Displays the current mode (e.g., "SLP" for sleep), real-time temperature, and air volume for the hot air gun.
• Bottom LCD (Soldering Station): Displays the real-time temperature of the soldering iron and indicates the three preset temperature values (200, 300, 400).
• Control Buttons: Below the displays are buttons for "POWER" (for each tool), "UP", "DOWN", and "SET" to adjust parameters and select presets.

6.3. Hot Air Gun Operation

1. Ensure the hot air gun is securely placed in its holder when not in use. Removing it from the holder will activate the heating element and air pump.
2. Press the "POWER" button associated with the hot air gun (leftmost button) to activate it.
3. Use the "UP" and "DOWN" buttons to adjust the desired temperature (100-500°C) and air volume. The top LCD will show the set values.
4. To use preset settings, press the "SET" button to cycle through the stored air volume and temperature combinations.
5. When finished, place the hot air gun back into its holder. The unit will automatically enter cool-down mode, blowing cool air until the temperature drops to a safe level, then entering sleep mode.

6.4. Soldering Iron Operation

1. Ensure the soldering iron is placed in its stand when not in use.
2. Press the "POWER" button associated with the soldering iron (rightmost button) to activate it.
3. Use the "UP" and "DOWN" buttons to adjust the desired temperature (200-480°C). The bottom LCD will show the real-time temperature.
4. The three preset temperatures (200, 300, 400) can be quickly selected by pressing the "SET" button.
5. Always tin the soldering iron tip before and after use to prevent oxidation and ensure efficient heat transfer.
6. When finished, place the soldering iron back into its stand. The unit may enter sleep mode after a period of inactivity.

7. Maintenance

• Soldering Iron Tip Care:
  • Always keep the tip tinned with a thin layer of solder when not in use to prevent oxidation.
