3. Setup and Installation

Installation of the Harvia C150 control unit and its components should be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with local electrical codes and regulations. Incorrect installation can lead to electrical shock or fire hazards.

3.1 Control Unit Placement

The control unit should be mounted in a dry location outside the sauna room, easily accessible for operation. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.

3.2 Temperature Sensor Installation

The temperature sensor housing contains both the temperature sensor and a resettable overheat protection circuit. It must be installed inside the sauna room according to the sauna heater manufacturer's instructions, typically on the wall above the heater at a specified distance from the ceiling.

4. Operating Instructions

The Harvia C150 control unit features a digital display and intuitive controls for setting your desired sauna conditions.

4.1 Powering On/Off

Use the main power switch on the control unit to turn the sauna heater on or off.

4.2 Temperature Setting

The digital display shows the current temperature, up to a maximum of +125 °C. The temperature setting range is from +40 °C to +110 °C, with a setting precision of +/-1 °C. Use the temperature adjustment knob to set your desired sauna temperature.

4.3 Operating Time

The control unit allows you to select the maximum operating time for the heater, ranging from 1 to 12 hours. The factory default setting is 4 hours.

  • For family saunas, the maximum operating time is 6 hours.
  • For collective (community) saunas, the maximum operating time can be set up to 12 hours.

4.4 Programming Pre-setting

The unit can be programmed to start heating after a delay, from 0 to 12 hours in advance. Refer to the detailed programming instructions in the full installation manual for specific steps.

5. Maintenance

The Harvia C150 control unit is designed for reliable operation with minimal maintenance. To ensure longevity and proper function:

  • Keep the control unit clean and free from dust and moisture. Wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth; do not use abrasive cleaners.
  • Periodically inspect the temperature sensor and its cable for any signs of damage.
  • Ensure all electrical connections remain secure. Any electrical work should only be performed by a qualified professional.

6. Troubleshooting

The control unit is equipped with diagnostic features to assist in identifying potential issues. If an error occurs, the heater will be switched off, and the control panel will display an error message.

6.1 Error Messages

The control unit may display the following error codes:

  • Er1: Indicates a specific fault.
  • Er2: Indicates a specific fault.
  • Er3: Indicates a specific fault.

These error messages assist in diagnosing the cause of the problem. The error message will disappear once the fault has been repaired. If an error persists after basic troubleshooting, contact a qualified service technician.

6.2 Overheat Protection

The temperature sensor includes a resettable overheat protection. If the sauna temperature exceeds safe limits, this protection will activate, shutting down the heater. Allow the sauna to cool down, then reset the overheat protection as per the full installation instructions.
