3. Initial Setup

3.1 Setting the Time

  1. Pull the crown out to the second click position. The second hand will stop.
  2. Rotate the crown to move the hour and minute hands to the desired time. Ensure the AM/PM is correctly set if your watch has a 24-hour indicator or if setting the date.

3.2 Setting the Date

4. Operating the Watch

4.1 Using the Chronograph (Stopwatch)

Your watch is equipped with a chronograph function for measuring elapsed time.

  • To Start/Stop: Press Pusher A to start the chronograph. Press Pusher A again to stop it.
  • To Reset: While the chronograph is stopped, press Pusher B to reset all chronograph hands to their zero positions.

4.2 Water Resistance

The Casio Edifice EF-543D-1AVUDF watch is water resistant up to 100 meters (10 ATM). This means it is suitable for swimming and snorkeling. However, it is not suitable for scuba diving.

  • Do not operate the crown or pushers while the watch is wet or submerged in water.
  • After exposure to saltwater, rinse the watch with fresh water and wipe it dry with a soft cloth.

5. Care and Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the watch case and band periodically with a soft, dry cloth to remove dirt and moisture. For metal bands, a soft brush with soapy water can be used, followed by thorough rinsing and drying.
  • Temperature Extremes: Avoid exposing your watch to extreme temperatures (above 60°C / 140°F or below -10°C / 14°F) or sudden temperature changes.
  • Chemicals: Keep the watch away from gasoline, cleaning solvents, aerosol sprays, adhesives, paints, etc. These chemicals can cause discoloration, deterioration, or damage to the resin case, band, and other parts.
  • Battery Replacement: The watch is powered by a quartz movement. When the battery runs low, the watch may stop or the second hand may move erratically. It is recommended to have the battery replaced by an authorized Casio service center to ensure proper sealing and water resistance.
