4. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your Aune T1SE for optimal performance.

4.1 Tube Installation

If the vacuum tube is not pre-installed, carefully insert it into the socket on the top of the unit. Ensure the pins align correctly with the socket holes and gently push down until it is seated firmly. Avoid forcing the tube, as this can damage the pins or socket.

4.2 Power Connection

  1. Connect the provided power adapter to the Power Input port on the rear panel of the T1SE.
  2. Plug the power adapter into a suitable electrical outlet.

4.3 USB Connection (DAC Mode)

  1. Connect one end of the supplied USB cable to the USB Input port on the rear of the T1SE.
  2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to an available USB port on your computer (PC/Mac) or an Android mobile phone that supports OTG functionality.
  3. For Windows operating systems, you may need to install specific drivers. Refer to the Aune website for the latest driver downloads.

4.4 Audio Input (Line-In Mode)

To use the T1SE as a standalone amplifier, connect an external analog audio source (e.g., a CD player, dedicated DAC) to the Audio In (RCA L/R) ports on the rear panel using appropriate RCA cables.

4.5 Audio Output (Headphone)

Plug your headphones into the 6.5mm headphone output jack on the front panel. If your headphones have a 3.5mm plug, use the provided 6.5mm to 3.5mm stereo adapter.

4.6 Audio Output (Line-Out)

To connect the T1SE to active speakers or another power amplifier, use RCA cables to connect the Audio Out (RCA L/R) ports on the rear panel to the input of your desired audio system.

5. Operating Instructions

Once the T1SE is set up, follow these steps for operation.

5.1 Power On/Off

  1. Ensure all connections are secure.
  2. Flip the Power Switch on the rear panel to the 'ON' position. The vacuum tube will begin to glow, indicating the unit is powered on.
  3. Allow a brief warm-up period (typically 30-60 seconds) for the tube to reach optimal operating temperature before critical listening.
  4. To power off, flip the Power Switch to the 'OFF' position.

5.2 Input Selection

Use the Input Selector Switch on the front panel to choose your desired audio source:

  • USB: Select this position when using the T1SE as a DAC connected to a computer or mobile device.
  • LINE: Select this position when using an external analog audio source connected to the Audio In (RCA) ports.

5.3 Volume Control

Rotate the Volume Control Knob on the front panel to adjust the audio output level. Turn clockwise to increase volume and counter-clockwise to decrease volume. Start with a low volume setting and gradually increase to a comfortable listening level to prevent sudden loud sounds.

6. Maintenance

Proper care will ensure the longevity and performance of your Aune T1SE.

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior of the unit. Avoid using liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the unit is placed in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating. Do not block the ventilation holes.
  • Tube Handling: The vacuum tube can become hot during operation. Allow it to cool down before handling. When replacing the tube, ensure the unit is powered off and unplugged. Handle tubes carefully by their base to avoid damage.
  • Storage: If storing the unit for an extended period, disconnect all cables and store it in a dry, dust-free environment.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Aune T1SE, refer to the following common problems and solutions.

  • No Power:
    • Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to both the unit and the electrical outlet.
    • Verify the power switch on the rear panel is in the 'ON' position.
    • Check if the electrical outlet is functional.
  • No Sound Output:
    • Confirm the correct input (USB or LINE) is selected via the front panel switch.
    • Check headphone or RCA cable connections for security.
    • Increase the volume using the front panel knob.
    • If using USB, ensure the T1SE is selected as the default audio output device in your computer's sound settings.
    • If using Line-In, ensure the external audio source is playing and its volume is adequate.
  • Distorted Sound:
    • Reduce the volume level on the T1SE and/or the source device.
    • Check all cable connections for proper seating and damage.
    • Ensure the vacuum tube is correctly seated.
    • Test with different audio files or sources to rule out source material issues.
  • Intermittent Sound / Sound Cuts Out:
    • This can sometimes occur with tube amplifiers. Try powering the unit off and then on again, allowing it to complete its warm-up cycle.
    • Ensure the USB connection is stable and not loose.
    • Check for any potential interference from other electronic devices.
  • Device Not Recognized by Computer (USB Mode):
    • Ensure the USB cable is connected securely.
    • Try a different USB port on your computer.
    • Reinstall the USB drivers for the T1SE, if applicable.
    • Restart your computer.
