Klark Teknik DN360-P2H
Klark Teknik DN360-P2H Instruction Manual
High-Performance Dual-Channel 30-Band 1/3 Octave Classic Graphic Equalizer
1. Introduction
The Klark Teknik DN360-P2H is a professional-grade, dual-channel 30-band graphic equalizer designed for precise audio frequency manipulation. It features 1/3 octave spacing, allowing for detailed control over the audio spectrum. This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your DN360-P2H unit.
2. Setup
2.1 Unpacking and Inspection
Carefully remove the DN360-P2H from its packaging. Inspect the unit for any signs of damage that may have occurred during transit. If damage is found, contact your dealer immediately.
2.2 Physical Placement
The DN360-P2H is designed for standard 19-inch rack mounting. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit to prevent overheating. Avoid placing the unit near sources of excessive heat, moisture, or strong electromagnetic fields.
2.3 Power Connection
Connect the supplied AC power cable to the IEC inlet on the rear panel of the unit and then to a suitable mains power outlet. The unit operates on AC ~ 50-60Hz and consumes 15W. Ensure the power source matches the unit's requirements.
2.4 Audio Connections
The DN360-P2H features balanced XLR input and output connectors for each of its two channels (Channel A and Channel B). The outputs are configured Pin 2 Hot. Use high-quality balanced XLR cables for all audio connections to ensure optimal signal integrity and noise rejection.
- Input: Connect your audio source (e.g., mixing console output) to the XLR INPUT connector for each channel.
- Output: Connect the XLR OUTPUT connector for each channel to your next audio device (e.g., amplifier, speaker management system).
2.5 Ground Lift Switch
A GROUND LIFT switch is provided on the rear panel. This switch can be used to disconnect the audio signal ground from the chassis ground, which may help eliminate hum or ground loop noise in certain system configurations. Experiment with the switch position to achieve the quietest operation.

3. Operating Instructions
The DN360-P2H provides intuitive controls for precise equalization. Each channel operates independently.
3.1 Graphic Equalizer Sliders
Each channel features 30 individual sliders, corresponding to 1/3 octave frequency bands from 25 Hz to 20 kHz. Moving a slider up boosts the corresponding frequency band, while moving it down cuts the band. The center position provides a flat (no boost or cut) response.
3.2 O/LOAD Indicator
The O/LOAD (Overload) indicator LED illuminates when the signal level within the unit approaches clipping. If this LED lights up frequently or stays lit, reduce the input level to prevent distortion.
3.3 IN/OUT Switch
This switch bypasses the equalizer section. When the switch is in the 'OUT' position, the audio signal passes through the unit without any equalization applied. In the 'IN' position, the equalizer is active.
3.4 LEVEL Knob
The LEVEL knob adjusts the overall output level of the channel. It provides a range from 0dB to approximately +10dB of gain. Use this control to match the output level of the equalizer to the input sensitivity of the next device in your audio chain.
3.5 SCALE Switch
The SCALE switch determines the maximum boost/cut range of the graphic equalizer sliders. It can be set to either +/-6dB or +/-12dB. The +/-12dB setting provides a wider range for more dramatic equalization, while the +/-6dB setting offers finer control for subtle adjustments.
4. Maintenance
The Klark Teknik DN360-P2H is designed for reliable operation with minimal maintenance. There are no user-serviceable parts inside the unit.
4.1 Cleaning
To clean the unit, use a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or waxes, as these can damage the finish and controls. Ensure the unit is powered off and disconnected from the mains before cleaning.
4.2 Fuse Replacement
WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, replace with the same type fuse. The fuse specification is 5 x 20mm 1250mA/250V. Fuse replacement should only be performed by qualified service personnel. Do not attempt to replace the fuse yourself unless you are a qualified technician.
4.3 General Care
Avoid exposing the unit to rain or moisture. Protect it from excessive dust and extreme temperatures. Always handle the unit with care to prevent physical damage.
5. Troubleshooting
This section provides solutions to common issues you might encounter with your DN360-P2H.
5.1 No Power
- Ensure the power cable is securely connected to both the unit and the mains outlet.
- Check the mains outlet for power by plugging in another device.
- Verify the fuse on the rear panel. If blown, it must be replaced by qualified service personnel with the correct type (5 x 20mm 1250mA/250V).
5.2 No Audio Output
- Check all XLR audio connections to ensure they are securely plugged in and correctly wired (Pin 2 Hot).
- Verify that the IN/OUT switch is in the 'IN' position if you intend to use the equalizer.
- Ensure the LEVEL knob is not set to minimum and is adjusted appropriately.
- Check the audio source and the next device in the signal chain to ensure they are functioning correctly.
5.3 Distorted Audio
- Observe the O/LOAD indicator. If it is frequently or constantly lit, the input signal is too high. Reduce the input level from your source device.
- Ensure all cables are in good condition and properly connected.
- Check that the LEVEL knob is not set excessively high, causing the output stage to clip.
5.4 Hum or Noise
- Try toggling the GROUND LIFT switch on the rear panel to see if it eliminates the hum.
- Ensure all audio cables are balanced XLR type.
- Check for proper grounding of all equipment in your audio system.
