Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient installation, operation, and maintenance of your AIMS Power PWRINV500048W 5000 Watt 48V Modified Sine Wave Power Inverter. Please read all instructions carefully before use to ensure proper function and safety.
Safety Precautions
- Always connect the inverter to a 48V DC power source. Incorrect voltage will damage the unit.
- Ensure proper ventilation around the inverter to prevent overheating. Do not block cooling vents.
- Connect the inverter to a properly grounded electrical system.
- Avoid operating the inverter in wet or damp conditions.
- Do not open the inverter casing. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified personnel.
- Be aware that modified sine wave inverters may not be suitable for all electronic devices, especially sensitive equipment or those with AC motors.
Product Overview
The AIMS Power PWRINV500048W is a 5000 Watt (10000 Watt peak surge) modified sine wave power inverter designed to convert 48V DC battery power into 120V AC household electricity. It features multiple AC outlets and a direct connect terminal block for versatile power delivery.

Setup and Installation
1. Mounting
Mount the inverter in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and flammable materials. Ensure adequate space around the unit for airflow, especially around the cooling fan.
2. DC Input Connection
Connect the inverter to a 48V DC battery bank using appropriate gauge cables. The inverter features blade terminals for easy connection.
- Connect the positive (+) terminal of the inverter (red) to the positive terminal of the battery bank.
- Connect the negative (-) terminal of the inverter (black) to the negative terminal of the battery bank.
- Ensure all connections are tight and secure to prevent arcing and overheating.

3. AC Output Connection
The inverter offers two methods for AC output:
- AC Receptacles: The inverter has four standard AC receptacles, each capable of handling up to 1500W. Plug your AC devices directly into these outlets.
- AC Direct Connect Terminal Block: For hardwiring applications and to utilize the full 5000W output, use the AC Direct Connect Terminal Block.
- Connect the Live (L) wire to the 'Live' terminal.
- Connect the Neutral (N) wire to the 'Neutral' terminal.
- Connect the Earth (G) wire to the 'Earth' terminal.
- Ensure the main power ON/OFF switch is OFF when connecting to the AC Terminal Block. The inverter's full power is available through this block.

Operating Instructions
1. Powering On/Off
To turn the inverter ON, switch the main power switch to the 'ON' position. To turn it OFF, switch it to the 'OFF' position. Always ensure all loads are disconnected before powering off for extended periods.
2. Monitoring Indicators
The inverter features several indicators on its control panel:
- Battery Voltage Meter: Displays the current DC input voltage from your battery bank.
- DC Amp Meter: Shows the current draw from the battery bank.
- Over Temp LED Indicator: Illuminates if the inverter's internal temperature exceeds safe operating limits.
- Over Load LED Indicator: Illuminates if the connected AC load exceeds the inverter's continuous or surge capacity.
3. Load Management
The inverter provides 5000 watts of continuous power and can handle a peak surge of 10000 watts. Each AC receptacle is rated for a maximum of 1500 watts. When connecting multiple devices, ensure the total continuous wattage does not exceed 5000W and the surge wattage does not exceed 10000W.
This is a modified sine wave inverter. While suitable for most common appliances, some sensitive electronics (e.g., certain medical devices, laser printers, variable speed motors) may require a pure sine wave inverter for optimal performance or to prevent damage.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Periodically inspect and clean the cooling fan and vents to ensure unobstructed airflow. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use liquid cleaners.
- Connections: Regularly check all DC and AC connections for tightness. Loose connections can cause overheating and damage.
- Environment: Ensure the inverter remains in a clean, dry, and well-ventilated environment.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Inverter not turning on | No DC input power; Loose battery connections; Blown internal fuse. | Check battery voltage; Verify DC cable connections; Contact support for fuse replacement. |
| Over Load LED illuminated | Connected load exceeds inverter capacity. | Reduce the connected load. The inverter may auto-reset after load reduction. |
| Over Temp LED illuminated | Inverter overheating due to excessive load or poor ventilation. | Reduce load; Ensure adequate ventilation; Allow inverter to cool down. |
| Low battery voltage alarm | Battery voltage is too low. | Recharge or replace batteries. The inverter will shut down to protect batteries. |
| AC output short circuit | Short circuit in connected AC device or wiring. | Disconnect all AC loads and check for faults. Inverter has internal protection and may auto-reset. |
The inverter is designed with internal fuse protection and features auto-reset on most fault conditions. If issues persist after following these steps, contact AIMS Power customer support.
