3. Product Overview

3.1 Front Panel

4. Setup
4.1 Charging the Battery
- Insert the included rechargeable Li-ion battery into the battery compartment on the back of the speaker. Ensure correct polarity.
- Connect the small end of the USB charging cable to the charging port on the DE660.
- Connect the standard USB end of the cable to a USB wall charger (5V DC) or a computer's USB port.
- The charging indicator on the display will illuminate. A full charge typically takes 3-4 hours. The indicator will change or turn off once charging is complete.
Note: The DE660 is designed to be powered by its internal rechargeable battery. For optimal performance and battery longevity, fully charge the device before first use.
4.2 Powering On/Off
- To power on, press and hold the Power button until the display illuminates and you hear a voice prompt.
- To power off, press and hold the Power button again until the display turns off.
5. Operating Instructions
The DE660 features voice prompts to guide you through different modes and statuses, which is particularly helpful for users with challenged vision.
5.1 Mode Selection
Press the Mode button repeatedly to cycle through the available modes: Bluetooth, FM Radio, USB MP3 Player, Micro SD MP3 Player, and Line-In.
5.2 Bluetooth Mode
- Switch the DE660 to Bluetooth mode. You will hear the voice prompt "Device is Ready for Connection".
- Enable Bluetooth on your smartphone, tablet, or other A2DP-enabled device.
- Search for available Bluetooth devices and select "DEGEN DE660" from the list.
- Once connected, you will hear the voice prompt "Bluetooth is Connected".
- You can now play audio wirelessly from your connected device. Use the DE660's volume buttons or your device's controls to adjust playback.
Note: The Bluetooth range is approximately 30 feet (10 meters). Obstacles may reduce this range.
5.3 FM Radio Mode
- Switch the DE660 to FM Radio mode.
- Extend the telescopic antenna for better reception.
- Press the Play/Pause button to initiate an automatic station scan. The radio will scan and save available FM stations.
- Use the Volume Up/Next Track and Volume Down/Previous Track buttons to navigate through the saved stations.
5.4 MP3 Player Mode (USB/Micro SD)
- Insert a USB flash drive into the USB port or a Micro SD card (with MP3/WMA files) into the Micro SD slot.
- Switch the DE660 to USB or Micro SD mode. The device will automatically detect and begin playing audio files.
- Use the Play/Pause button to pause or resume playback.
- Press the Volume Up/Next Track button to skip to the next track.
- Press the Volume Down/Previous Track button to go to the previous track.
- Press and hold the Volume Up/Next Track or Volume Down/Previous Track buttons to adjust the volume.
5.5 Line-In Mode
- Connect an external audio device (e.g., an older MP3 player, CD player) to the DE660's Line IN port using a 3.5mm audio cable (not included).
- Switch the DE660 to Line-In mode.
- Audio from the connected device will now play through the DE660 speaker. Control playback and volume primarily from the external device.
6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the speaker. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. If the device will not be used for an extended period, charge it at least once every three months.
- Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Water Exposure: The DE660 is not waterproof. Avoid exposure to water or high humidity.
