3. Setup

Proper setup is crucial for safe and efficient operation.

3.1 Unpacking and Inspection

  1. Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
  2. Inspect the sprayer and all accessories for any signs of damage. Do not use if damaged.
  3. Ensure all listed components are present: sprayer unit, Contractor Gun, RAC X 517 SwitchTip and Guard, 1/4 in x 50 ft BlueMax II Airless Hose.

3.2 Assembly

  1. Connect the High-Pressure Hose: Securely attach one end of the BlueMax II Airless Hose to the fluid outlet on the sprayer. Use a wrench to tighten connections firmly.
  2. Connect the Spray Gun: Attach the other end of the high-pressure hose to the inlet of the Contractor Gun. Ensure a tight, leak-free connection.
  3. Install the RAC X SwitchTip and Guard: Thread the tip guard onto the spray gun. Insert the RAC X 517 SwitchTip into the guard, ensuring it is seated correctly.
  4. Position the Suction Tube: Place the suction tube into the paint container. Ensure the inlet suction hose is fully submerged in the material.
  5. Position the Drain Tube: Place the drain tube (prime hose) into a waste pail or a separate container for priming.

3.3 Priming the Sprayer

Priming removes air from the system and prepares the sprayer for operation.

  1. Ensure the prime valve is in the 'PRIME' or 'DRAIN' position.
  2. Turn the pressure control knob to the lowest setting.
  3. Connect the sprayer to a grounded power outlet.
  4. Turn the main power switch ON. The pump will start.
  5. Allow the pump to run until a steady stream of paint flows from the drain tube into the waste pail, indicating all air has been purged.
  6. Once primed, turn the main power switch OFF.

4. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps for effective and safe spraying.

4.1 Preparing to Spray

  1. After priming, turn the prime valve to the 'SPRAY' position.
  2. Engage the trigger lock on the spray gun.
  3. Turn the main power switch ON.
  4. Slowly increase the pressure control knob to the desired spraying pressure. Start with a lower pressure and gradually increase until a consistent spray pattern is achieved.

4.2 Spraying Technique

4.3 Adjusting Pressure (SmartControl 3.0)

The SmartControl 3.0 system automatically adjusts motor speed to maintain consistent pressure. Use the pressure control knob to set the desired pressure for your material and tip size. Refer to your paint manufacturer's recommendations for optimal spraying pressure.

5. Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance extend the life of your sprayer and ensure optimal performance.

5.1 Cleaning After Each Use

  1. Relieve Pressure: Turn off the sprayer, engage the trigger lock, and turn the prime valve to 'PRIME'. Point the gun into a waste container and disengage the trigger lock, then pull the trigger to release pressure. Re-engage the trigger lock.
  2. Flush System: Remove the suction tube from the paint and place it into a container of appropriate cleaning solution (water for latex, mineral spirits for oil-based). Place the drain tube into a waste container.
  3. Turn the sprayer ON and set to low pressure. Allow cleaning solution to circulate until it runs clear from the drain tube.
  4. Turn the prime valve to 'SPRAY'. Point the gun into a waste container and spray until the cleaning solution runs clear.
  5. Turn off the sprayer and relieve pressure.
  6. Clean Gun and Tip: Disassemble the tip, guard, and gun filter. Clean all components thoroughly with cleaning solution and a brush.
  7. Clean Easy Out Pump Filter: Unscrew the filter housing and remove the filter element. Clean it with cleaning solution. Reinstall after cleaning.

5.2 Pump Care (Endurance Pump)

The Endurance Pump is designed for durability. Periodically check the pump for leaks. If the pump performance degrades, it may require servicing. The QuikAccess intake valve allows for easy clearing of debris.

5.3 Storage

For long-term storage, flush the system with a pump protector or storage fluid to prevent corrosion and freezing. Store the sprayer in a clean, dry, and temperature-controlled environment.
