2. Safety Information

3. Setup

3.1. What's in the Box

The Iridium 9555 Satellite Kit typically includes:

3.2. Battery Installation and Charging

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the phone.

  4. Replace the battery cover and slide it up until it clicks into place.

  3. Once registered, the signal strength indicator will appear on the screen.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Making a Call

  1. Ensure you have a clear line of sight to the sky. Extend the antenna fully and point it upwards.
  2. Enter the full international dialing code, including the '+' symbol (press and hold '0' for '+'), country code, area code, and phone number.
  3. Press the green call key (Call) to initiate the call.
  4. To end a call, press the red power/end call key (Power).

4.2. Receiving a Call

  1. When an incoming call is received, the phone will ring and display the caller's number (if available).
  2. Press the green call key (Call) to answer the call.
  3. To reject a call, press the red power/end call key (Power).

4.3. Sending and Receiving Messages (SMS/Email)

The Iridium 9555 supports SMS (Short Message Service) and basic email messaging.

  • Sending SMS: Navigate to the 'Messages' menu, select 'New Message', enter your text, and then the recipient's phone number. Press 'Send'.
  • Receiving SMS: Incoming messages will be indicated by an envelope icon and an alert. Navigate to the 'Messages' inbox to read them.
  • Email: The phone supports basic email functionality. Refer to the detailed user guide for configuring email settings and addresses.

  • Use the Up/Down arrow keys to scroll through menus and options.
  • Press the Select key (center button) to confirm a selection.
