4. Initial Setup
4.1 Setting the Time
- Pull the crown (A) out to the furthest position.
- Rotate the crown in either direction to set the hour and minute hands to the correct time. Ensure the 24-hour sub-dial (if present) is also correctly aligned for AM/PM.
- Push the crown back in to the normal operating position to start the watch.
4.2 Setting the Date
- Pull the crown (A) out to the first click position.
- Rotate the crown to adjust the date. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this may interfere with the automatic date change mechanism.
- Once the correct date is displayed, push the crown back in to the normal operating position.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Using the Chronograph
The chronograph function allows you to measure elapsed time.
- Start: Press the top pusher (B) to start the chronograph. The chronograph second hand will begin to move.
- Stop: Press the top pusher (B) again to stop the chronograph. The elapsed time will be indicated by the chronograph sub-dials.
- Reset: After stopping, press the bottom pusher (C) to reset all chronograph hands to their zero positions.
- Fly-back Function: If your model features a fly-back chronograph, pressing the bottom pusher (C) while the chronograph is running will instantly reset and restart the timing.
5.2 Activating INDIGLO® Night-Light
To illuminate the watch dial in low light conditions, simply press and hold the crown (A). The INDIGLO® night-light will remain active as long as the crown is pressed.
5.3 Water Resistance Guidelines
Your watch is water-resistant to 100 meters (10 ATM). This means it is suitable for recreational swimming, snorkeling, and showering. However, it is not designed for high-impact water sports or scuba diving. Always ensure the crown and pushers are fully pushed in before exposing the watch to water. Do not operate the crown or pushers while the watch is wet or submerged, as this can compromise the water resistance.
6. Care and Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning Your Watch
Regularly wipe your watch case and crystal with a soft, dry cloth. For the leather strap, avoid excessive moisture. If it gets wet, allow it to air dry naturally, away from direct heat or sunlight.
6.2 Battery Replacement
The watch is powered by a quartz movement requiring a watch battery. When the watch stops or the INDIGLO® light dims significantly, it is an indication that the battery needs replacement. It is recommended to have the battery replaced by an authorized TIMEX service center to ensure proper sealing and maintain water resistance.
6.3 General Care
- Avoid exposing your watch to extreme temperatures (hot or cold) or sudden temperature changes.
- Keep your watch away from strong magnetic fields, as these can affect the accuracy of the quartz movement.
- Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, and detergents, which can damage the case, strap, or seals.
7. Troubleshooting
- Watch Not Running: Ensure the crown is fully pushed in. If it still does not run, the battery may need replacement.
- INDIGLO® Not Working: This is typically an indication of a low battery. Replace the battery.
- Inaccurate Timekeeping: Check for exposure to strong magnetic fields. If the issue persists, the movement may require servicing.
- Chronograph Hands Not Resetting to Zero: This may require a chronograph reset procedure. Consult an authorized service center if the issue persists after a battery change.
