6. Maintenance and Care

Proper care will ensure the longevity and appearance of your Schock stone sink.

  • Daily Cleaning: Clean the sink regularly with warm water, a soft cloth or sponge, and a mild dish soap. Rinse thoroughly and wipe dry to prevent water spots.
  • Stain Removal: For stubborn stains, use a non-abrasive cleaner specifically designed for composite or stone sinks. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive pads, or steel wool, as these can damage the surface.
  • Heat Resistance: While stone sinks are highly heat resistant, it is recommended to use a trivet or hot pad for extremely hot pots and pans to prevent potential thermal shock or discoloration over time.
  • Avoid Impact: Although durable, heavy impacts from sharp objects can cause chipping or cracking. Exercise caution when handling heavy cookware.
  • Drain Care: Regularly clean the drain assembly to prevent blockages and maintain hygiene.

7. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your kitchen sink.

  • Leaks around the sink rim: This usually indicates an improper seal during installation. Ensure the sealant has cured properly and that installation clips are tightened evenly. Re-sealing may be necessary.
  • Slow drainage: Check the drain assembly for food debris or other blockages. Clean the drain trap if necessary.
  • Water spots or mineral buildup: These can occur in hard water areas. Regular drying after use helps prevent this. For existing spots, use a mild descaling agent or a solution of vinegar and water, followed by thorough rinsing.
  • Discoloration: Ensure you are following the recommended cleaning procedures. Avoid leaving highly pigmented foods or liquids in the sink for extended periods. Specialized stone sink cleaners can help restore color.
