Operating Instructions
Making Espresso
- Ensure the water reservoir is filled.
- Select the appropriate filter basket (single or double shot) and place it into the portafilter.
- Add finely ground espresso coffee to the filter basket. Level and tamp the coffee evenly.
- Attach the portafilter to the brewing head by aligning it and twisting firmly to the right until secure.
- Place an espresso cup(s) on the drip tray.
- Press the espresso brew button. The machine will begin extracting coffee.
- Once the desired volume is reached, press the brew button again to stop extraction.
Using the Milk Frother
- Fill a pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy).
- Turn the steam knob to the steam position. Wait for the steam indicator light to illuminate, indicating the machine has reached steaming temperature.
- Submerge the frothing nozzle just below the surface of the milk.
- Open the steam valve to release steam into the milk. Move the pitcher up and down to create foam.
- Once desired foam consistency is achieved, close the steam valve and remove the pitcher.
- Immediately wipe the frothing nozzle with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying.
Maintenance
Daily Cleaning
- Empty and rinse the drip tray after each use.
- Remove the portafilter and discard used coffee grounds. Rinse the portafilter and filter basket under running water.
- Wipe down the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.
Regular Cleaning (Reusable Filter)
- Periodically clean the reusable filter basket thoroughly to remove any coffee oils or residue.
- Use a small brush to clean the shower screen on the brewing head.
Descaling
Depending on water hardness and frequency of use, descaling should be performed every 2-3 months. Use a descaling solution specifically designed for espresso machines and follow the product's instructions. This process removes mineral buildup that can affect machine performance and coffee taste.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No coffee dispenses | No water in reservoir; machine not primed; clogged filter/portafilter. | Fill water reservoir; prime the pump; clean filter and portafilter. |
| Weak or watery coffee | Coffee grounds too coarse; not enough coffee; insufficient tamping. | Use finer grind; increase coffee amount; tamp more firmly. |
| No steam from frother | Machine not at steaming temperature; frother nozzle clogged. | Wait for steam indicator; clean frother nozzle thoroughly. |
| Machine leaks | Water reservoir not seated correctly; portafilter not secured. | Ensure reservoir is firm; secure portafilter tightly. |
