4. Setup
4.1 Connecting the Docking Station
- Connect the provided power adapter to the DC 12V port on the back of the docking station (refer to Image 4).
- Plug the power adapter into a suitable power outlet.
- If connecting to a computer, use the supplied USB 3.0 cable to connect the docking station's USB 3.0 port to an available USB port on your computer.
- Ensure the power switch on the back of the docking station is in the OFF position before inserting drives.
4.2 Inserting Hard Drives
- Gently slide your SATA HDD or SSD into the designated slots (HDD 1 and HDD 2) on top of the docking station until it firmly connects with the SATA connector (refer to Image 3).
- Ensure the drives are correctly oriented.
- You can insert one or two drives depending on your intended use.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Data Transfer Mode (Connected to PC)
- Follow steps in Section 4.1 and 4.2 to connect the docking station to your PC and insert drives.
- Flip the power switch on the back of the docking station to the ON position. The Power LED will illuminate.
- Your computer should automatically detect the connected drives. They will appear as external storage devices.
- You can now access, read, and write data to the drives as you would with any external storage.
- To safely remove a drive, first eject it from your operating system (e.g., "Safely Remove Hardware" on Windows, "Eject" on macOS). Then, press the eject button next to the drive slot and carefully pull the drive out.
5.2 Standalone Clone Function (PC-less)
The clone function allows you to duplicate the contents of a source drive (HDD 1) to a target drive (HDD 2) without a computer connection. The target drive must be equal to or larger in capacity than the source drive.
- Ensure the docking station is disconnected from any computer before starting the clone function.
- Insert the source drive (the drive you want to copy FROM) into the HDD 1 slot.
- Insert the target drive (the drive you want to copy TO) into the HDD 2 slot.
- WARNING: All data on the target drive (HDD 2) will be erased during the cloning process. Ensure you have backed up any important data from the target drive before proceeding.
- Flip the power switch on the back of the docking station to the ON position.
- Press and hold the "Clone" button (usually located near the front LEDs) for approximately 3-5 seconds until the "Clone" LED starts blinking.
- Release the button. The cloning process will begin. The progress will be indicated by the "Link" LEDs (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%).
- Once all "Link" LEDs are solid and the "Clone" LED stops blinking and remains solid, the cloning process is complete.
- Flip the power switch to the OFF position and safely remove the drives.
6. Maintenance
- Keep the docking station clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
- Avoid exposing the device to moisture, extreme temperatures, or direct sunlight.
- Do not attempt to open or repair the device yourself. Refer to qualified service personnel.
- Ensure proper ventilation around the device during operation.
7. Troubleshooting
7.1 Drives Not Detected by PC
- Ensure the power adapter is securely connected and the docking station is powered ON.
- Verify the USB cable is properly connected to both the docking station and the computer. Try a different USB port on your computer.
- Check if the hard drive(s) are correctly seated in their slots.
- If it's a new drive, it might need to be initialized and formatted in your computer's Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (macOS).
- Test with a different hard drive to rule out a drive issue.
7.2 Cloning Process Fails or Does Not Start
- Ensure the docking station is disconnected from any computer before starting the clone function.
- Verify that the source drive is in HDD 1 and the target drive is in HDD 2.
- Confirm that the target drive's capacity is equal to or larger than the source drive's capacity.
- Ensure both drives are securely inserted.
- Press and hold the "Clone" button for the required duration (3-5 seconds) until the LED blinks.
- If the drives have bad sectors, cloning might fail. Consider using disk repair tools on the source drive first.
