Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation, installation, and maintenance of your Eemax 6.0 Gallon Electric Mini-Tank Water Heater, model EMT6-YOW. Mini-tank heaters are designed to provide hot water at point-of-use locations such as kitchen sinks, bar areas, or utility faucets, eliminating the need for complex sizing calculations often associated with larger water heating systems.
The unit is engineered for easy installation, requiring only standard electric and water line connections to become operational.
Safety Information
Please read and understand all safety instructions before installing, operating, or performing maintenance on this water heater. Failure to follow these instructions could result in property damage, personal injury, or death.
- Electrical Hazard: Ensure the power supply is disconnected before performing any installation or maintenance. This unit requires a dedicated electrical circuit.
- Water Pressure: Do not operate the unit if water pressure exceeds the maximum rated pressure. A pressure relief valve must be installed.
- Temperature: Hot water can cause severe burns. Exercise caution when setting the temperature and using hot water.
- Installation: Installation must be performed by a qualified professional in accordance with all local plumbing and electrical codes.
- Freezing: Protect the unit from freezing temperatures. Freezing can cause severe damage to the water heater and plumbing.
Installation and Setup
The Eemax mini-tank water heater is designed for indoor installation only. Select a location that is protected from freezing temperatures and is close to the point of use to minimize heat loss.

This image shows the Eemax 6.0 Gallon Electric Mini-Tank Water Heater, a compact unit designed for point-of-use applications. It features a white casing with a silver control panel at the bottom, including a temperature adjustment knob. Water inlet and outlet connections are visible at the top.
Mounting
- Choose a sturdy vertical surface capable of supporting the weight of the unit when full (approximately 50 lbs for the 6.0 gal model).
- Mark the mounting points using the provided template or by measuring the keyhole slots on the back of the unit.
- Install appropriate fasteners (screws, anchors) into the marked points, leaving them protruding slightly.
- Hang the water heater securely on the fasteners.
Plumbing Connections
- Connect the cold water supply line to the inlet port (typically blue or marked 'C').
- Connect the hot water outlet line to the outlet port (typically red or marked 'H').
- Install a temperature and pressure (T&P) relief valve in the designated opening. Ensure the discharge pipe from the T&P valve is routed to an open drain.
- Open the hot water faucet at the point of use to allow air to escape while the tank fills. Once water flows steadily from the faucet, close it.
- Check all connections for leaks.
Electrical Connections
- Ensure the power supply is OFF at the circuit breaker before proceeding.
- Connect the water heater to a properly grounded electrical outlet or circuit as per local electrical codes. The unit typically comes with a standard plug for easy connection.
- Verify that the voltage and amperage rating of the circuit match the requirements of the water heater (refer to specifications section).
Operation
Once installed and filled with water, the Eemax mini-tank water heater is ready for operation.
- Power On: Turn on the electrical power supply to the unit at the circuit breaker.
- Temperature Adjustment: Use the temperature control knob located on the front of the unit to set the desired water temperature. The knob typically has markings indicating temperature ranges or settings (e.g., Low, Medium, High).
- Heating Indicator: A light on the unit will typically illuminate when the heating element is active. It will turn off once the set temperature is reached.
- Initial Heating: Allow approximately 15-20 minutes for the water in the tank to reach the set temperature during initial startup or after the tank has been drained.
Note: For energy efficiency and safety, it is recommended not to set the temperature higher than necessary.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of your water heater. Always disconnect power before performing any maintenance.
- Drain and Flush (Annually): To prevent sediment buildup, drain and flush the tank annually.
- Turn off power to the unit.
- Close the cold water supply valve to the heater.
- Open a hot water faucet at the point of use to relieve pressure.
- Connect a hose to the drain valve at the bottom of the heater and route it to a suitable drain.
- Open the drain valve and allow the tank to empty.
- Once empty, briefly open the cold water supply valve to flush out any remaining sediment, then close it.
- Close the drain valve, remove the hose, and refill the tank as per installation instructions before restoring power.
- T&P Valve Test (Annually): Test the temperature and pressure relief valve annually by lifting the lever. Water should discharge from the drain pipe. If it does not, the valve may be faulty and should be replaced by a qualified professional.
- Anode Rod Inspection (Every 3-5 Years): The anode rod protects the tank from corrosion. It should be inspected and replaced if significantly depleted. This procedure typically requires draining the tank and is best performed by a qualified technician.
