4. Setup

4.2 Rack Mounting

The XS 700 is designed for standard 19-inch rack mounting and occupies 1U of rack space. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit. Do not block the ventilation grilles on the front, sides, or top of the amplifier.

4.3 Connections

Before making any connections, ensure the amplifier is turned off and disconnected from the mains power supply. Use high-quality cables for all audio connections.

4.3.1 Input Connections

The XS 700 provides versatile input options for connecting your audio source (mixer, preamplifier, etc.).

• XLR Inputs: For balanced audio signals. Use standard XLR cables.
• RCA Inputs: For unbalanced audio signals. Use standard RCA cables.
• 6.3mm Jack Inputs: For balanced or unbalanced audio signals, depending on the cable used.

Connect your audio source to the appropriate input connectors on the rear panel (CH-A and CH-B).

4.3.2 Output Connections

Connect your loudspeakers to the output terminals on the rear panel. The XS 700 offers two types of output connectors:

4.3.3 Power Connection

Connect the supplied power cord to the AC inlet on the rear panel of the amplifier and then to a suitable mains power outlet. Ensure the voltage matches the amplifier's requirements (115V/230V, 50/60Hz).

5. Operating the Amplifier

5.1 Front Panel Controls and Indicators

• Gain Knobs (A & B): Adjust the input sensitivity for each channel. Turn clockwise to increase volume, counter-clockwise to decrease.
• POWER LED: Illuminates when the amplifier is powered on.
• SIG (Signal) LEDs: Indicate the presence of an audio signal on the respective channel.
• CLIP LEDs: Illuminate when the input signal is too high, causing clipping. Reduce the input level to prevent distortion and potential speaker damage.
• PRO (Protection) LEDs: Indicate that the amplifier's protection circuits are active (e.g., due to overheating, short circuit, or DC offset). The amplifier will mute output in this state.
• PAR (Parallel) LED: Illuminates when the amplifier is operating in Parallel mode.
• BRI (Bridged) LED: Illuminates when the amplifier is operating in Bridged mode.

5.2 Rear Panel Controls

• GROUND Lift Switch:
  • ON: Connects the signal ground to the chassis ground.
  • OFF: Disconnects the signal ground from the chassis ground. Use this setting to eliminate hum caused by ground loops.
• LIMITER Switch:
  • ON: Activates the built-in limiter, which prevents excessive output levels and protects speakers from clipping.
  • OFF: Disables the limiter. Use with caution, especially at high volumes.
• MODE Switch: Selects the amplifier's operating mode.
  • STR (Stereo): Each channel (A and B) operates independently, processing its own input signal and driving its own speaker.
  • BRI (Bridged): Combines the power of both channels into a single, higher-power output. Only use the designated bridged output terminals and ensure the connected speaker's impedance is suitable for bridged operation (typically 8 Ohms minimum).
  • PAR (Parallel): Both channels receive the same input signal (from Channel A input) but drive their respective speakers independently. Useful for driving multiple speakers with the same mono signal.
• GAIN Switch: Selects the input sensitivity.
  • 0.77V: High sensitivity, suitable for lower-level input signals.
  • 1.4V: Medium sensitivity.
  • 26dB: Low sensitivity, suitable for higher-level input signals.

5.3 Powering On/Off

After all connections are made, turn on your audio source devices first, then turn on the XS 700 amplifier. When powering off, turn off the amplifier first, then your audio source devices.

6. Maintenance

• Cleaning: Clean the amplifier's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents. Ensure ventilation grilles are free of dust and debris.
