4.1. Input Channels (CH1-CH4)
- MIC Input: XLR connector for microphones.
- LINE Input: 1/4" jack for line-level sources.
- GAIN Control: Adjusts the input sensitivity for the Mic/Line input.
- HPF (High-Pass Filter): Engages a filter to reduce low-frequency rumble.
- COMP (Compressor): (Channels 1 & 2 only) One-knob control for dynamic range compression.
- HIGH, MID, LOW EQ: 3-band equalizer for tone shaping.
- MON (Monitor Send): Sends signal to the monitor mix.
- PAN Control: Adjusts the stereo position of the channel.
- PEAK LED: Illuminates when the signal is too high, indicating potential clipping.
- Channel Fader: Adjusts the overall level of the channel in the main mix.
4.2. Stereo Channels (CH5/6, CH7/8, CH9/10, CH11/12)
- L/MONO, R Inputs: 1/4" jacks for stereo line-level sources. Use L/MONO for mono input.
- MON (Monitor Send): Sends signal to the monitor mix.
- BAL (Balance) Control: Adjusts the balance between left and right signals.
- LEVEL Control: Adjusts the overall level of the stereo channel.
- PEAK LED: Illuminates when the signal is too high.
4.3. Master Section
- POWER LED: Indicates the mixer is powered on.
- PHANTOM +48V Button/LED: Engages phantom power for condenser microphones.
- MAIN MIX Fader: Controls the overall output level of the main stereo mix.
- MIX 2/PHONES Level: Controls the level for the Mix 2 output and the Headphone output.
- TAPE IN/OUT: RCA connectors for connecting external recording/playback devices.
- TAPE TO MIX 2+PHONES Button: Routes Tape In signal to Mix 2 and Headphones.
- TAPE TO MAIN MIX Button: Routes Tape In signal to the Main Mix.
- MASTER Outputs (LEFT/RIGHT): 1/4" jacks for connecting to power amplifiers or recording devices.
- MIX 2 Outputs (LEFT/RIGHT): 1/4" jacks for an alternative stereo output.
- MON SEND Output: 1/4" jack for sending the monitor mix to external monitors.
- PHONES Output: 1/4" stereo jack for headphones.
- Level Meters: LED indicators showing the output level of the main mix.
5. Setup
- Power Connection: Connect the supplied power adapter to the mixer's power input and then to an appropriate AC outlet. Ensure the mixer's power switch is OFF before connecting.
- Main Outputs: Connect the MASTER LEFT and RIGHT outputs to your power amplifier, powered speakers, or recording interface using 1/4" TRS or TS cables.
- Microphones: Connect microphones to the XLR MIC inputs (CH1-CH4). If using condenser microphones, activate the +48V PHANTOM power.
- Line-Level Devices: Connect instruments, keyboards, or other line-level devices to the 1/4" LINE inputs (CH1-CH4) or the stereo L/MONO and R inputs (CH5/6 - CH11/12).
- Monitors: Connect your stage monitors or personal monitoring system to the MON SEND output.
- Headphones: Plug your headphones into the PHONES output.
- External Recorder: Connect the TAPE OUT to the input of your recording device and the TAPE IN from the output of your playback device.
- Power On: Once all connections are made, turn on your mixer, then your power amplifier or powered speakers.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1. Basic Level Setting
- Set all channel faders and the MAIN MIX fader to their lowest positions.
- For a microphone channel, speak into the microphone at a normal performance level. Slowly increase the GAIN control until the PEAK LED flashes only occasionally.
- Gradually raise the channel fader to the "0" position.
- Slowly raise the MAIN MIX fader until the main level meters show a healthy signal (around 0 dB to +5 dB during peaks).
- Repeat for other channels.
6.2. Equalization (EQ)
Use the HIGH, MID, and LOW controls on each channel to adjust the tone. Turning a knob clockwise boosts the frequency, while turning it counter-clockwise cuts it. Start with all EQ knobs at the center (flat) position and make subtle adjustments to enhance clarity or correct undesirable frequencies.
6.3. Compression (CH1-CH2)
The one-knob COMP control on channels 1 and 2 applies compression to the input signal. Turn the knob clockwise to increase the amount of compression, which helps to smooth out dynamic peaks and add sustain. Use sparingly to avoid an unnatural sound.
6.4. Monitoring
The MON control on each channel sends a portion of that channel's signal to the MON SEND output. This is useful for creating a separate mix for stage monitors or headphones. Adjust the overall monitor level using the dedicated control (if available, otherwise controlled by individual channel MON sends).
6.5. Tape In/Out
Connect a CD player, MP3 player, or other playback device to the TAPE IN RCA jacks. Use the TAPE TO MAIN MIX button to send this signal to the main output, or TAPE TO MIX 2+PHONES to send it to the Mix 2 and headphone outputs for monitoring or recording without affecting the main mix.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the mixer's surface. Avoid liquid cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish or internal components.
- Storage: When not in use, store the mixer in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Ventilation: Ensure that the mixer's ventilation openings are not obstructed to prevent overheating.
- Cable Management: Use proper cable management to prevent strain on connectors and accidental disconnections.
8. Troubleshooting
- No Power: Check the power adapter connection and the wall outlet. Ensure the power switch is ON.
- No Sound Output: Verify all cables are securely connected. Check channel faders, MAIN MIX fader, and master volume controls on connected amplifiers/speakers. Ensure input GAIN is set correctly and PEAK LEDs are not constantly lit.
- Distorted Sound: Reduce input GAIN if PEAK LEDs are constantly lit. Check for proper impedance matching between sources and inputs.
- Hum or Noise: Ensure all cables are in good condition. Check for ground loops; try connecting all audio equipment to the same power strip. Keep audio cables away from power cables.
- Microphone Not Working: Check microphone cable. If using a condenser mic, ensure +48V PHANTOM power is engaged. Verify GAIN and channel fader are up.
