Accurate vehicle selection is critical for proper TPMS diagnosis and programming.

  • Manual Selection: From the main menu, select "Vehicle" and manually input the vehicle's Make, Model, and Year using the on-screen keyboard.
  • VIN Barcode Scan: Utilize the integrated VIN barcode scanner for quick and accurate vehicle identification. Point the scanner at the vehicle's VIN barcode (typically located on the driver's side door jamb or dashboard) and press the scan button.

4.2 TPMS Sensor Activation and Diagnosis

To activate and diagnose TPMS sensors:

  1. Select "Activate" or "Diagnose" from the main menu after vehicle selection.
  2. Hold the VT56 tool near each tire's valve stem. The tool will emit a signal to activate the sensor.
  3. The tool will display sensor data, including ID, pressure, temperature, and battery status.
  4. Repeat for all four (or more, if applicable) wheels.

4.3 TPMS Sensor Programming

The VT56 can program 25 leading aftermarket sensor brands. Follow the on-screen prompts for specific sensor programming procedures, which typically involve selecting the sensor brand and model, then choosing the desired programming method (e.g., Copy by OBD, Copy by ID, Create New ID).

4.4 OBDII Relearn Procedure

After replacing or programming TPMS sensors, an OBDII relearn procedure is often required to register the new sensor IDs with the vehicle's ECU.

  1. Connect the OBDII module to the vehicle's OBDII port (usually located under the dashboard).
  2. Connect the VT56 tool to the OBDII module.
  3. From the VT56 menu, select "Relearn" and follow the on-screen instructions to transfer sensor IDs to the vehicle's ECU.

4.5 Printing Reports

After diagnosis or relearn, you can print a report of the TPMS data. Dock the VT56 tool in the docking station with the printer attached, and select the "Print" option from the relevant menu.

Wipe the tool's screen and body with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the tool is powered off before cleaning.
