2. Safety Information

4. Printer Overview
4.1 Rear Panel Connections

The rear panel of the printer houses all necessary connection ports for power and data transfer. Key connectors include:

Both side panels feature ventilation grilles to ensure proper heat dissipation during operation. Do not obstruct these grilles.
5. Setup
5.1 Unpacking
- Carefully remove the printer and all accessories from the packaging.
- Retain the packaging materials for future transport or storage.
5.2 Power Connection
- Ensure the printer's power switch is in the OFF position.
- Connect the supplied power cord to the AC power input on the rear panel of the printer (refer to Figure 2).
- Plug the other end of the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.
5.3 Connecting to a Host System (USB)
- Connect one end of a USB 2.0 cable (not included, unless using the Digital USB Adapter) to the USB port on the rear panel of the printer (refer to Figure 2).
- Connect the other end of the USB cable to a compatible USB port on your digital ultrasound system or computer.
5.4 Driver Installation
For computer connectivity, install the appropriate printer driver software. Drivers are typically provided on a CD-ROM or available for download from the Sony support website. This printer supports Windows 2000/XP operating systems.
5.5 Loading Print Media
- Open the paper tray cover on the front of the printer.
- Insert the thermal print paper roll (e.g., UPP-110HG, UPP-110HD, UPP-110S) into the tray, ensuring the leading edge is correctly aligned.
- Close the paper tray cover. The printer will automatically feed the paper to the correct starting position.
6. Operation
6.1 Basic Printing Process
- Ensure the printer is powered on and connected to the host system.
- From your ultrasound system or computer application, initiate the print command.
- The printer will begin printing the image. A typical print takes approximately 2.0 seconds in High Speed Mode.
- Once printing is complete, the paper will exit the front slot. Tear off the print along the perforated line or use the integrated cutter if available.
6.2 Print Settings
- Resolution: The printer operates at a resolution of 325 dpi for clear monochrome images.
- Gradation: Features true 256 gray balance for detailed image reproduction.
- Print Speed: Approximately 2.0 seconds per print in High Speed Mode.
6.3 Control Buttons
The front panel of the printer typically includes buttons for basic functions such as power, feed, and copy. Refer to the labels on the printer's front panel for specific button functions.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning the Printer
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the printer with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a cloth lightly dampened with water and a mild detergent, then wipe dry.
