Introduction

Setup

1. Battery Installation and Charging

  3. Close the compartment cover securely.
  4. Connect the camera to the AC adapter using the supplied USB cable to charge the battery. The charging indicator will illuminate.

2. Memory Card Insertion

The camera supports SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards (sold separately). A memory card is required to store photos and videos.

  1. Open the battery/card compartment cover.
  2. Insert the memory card into the card slot with the label facing the front of the camera until it clicks into place.
  3. Close the compartment cover.

3. Initial Settings (Date/Time)

Upon first power-on or after the battery has been depleted, you will be prompted to set the date, time, and time zone. Follow the on-screen instructions using the camera's control buttons.

4. Wi-Fi Connection

The camera features built-in Wi-Fi for connecting to smartphones or tablets. Refer to the camera's on-screen menu for Wi-Fi setup options, including connecting to a network or directly to a mobile device for image transfer and remote control.

Operating the Camera

1. Power On/Off

Press the [POWER] button to turn the camera on or off. The lens will extend when powered on.

2. Shooting Modes

Rotate the mode dial to select your desired shooting mode:

  • Automatic: The camera automatically optimizes settings for various scenes.
  • Program (P): Allows control over ISO and white balance while the camera sets aperture and shutter speed.
  • Aperture Priority (A): Manually set the aperture, and the camera adjusts shutter speed.
  • Shutter Priority (S): Manually set the shutter speed, and the camera adjusts aperture.
  • Manual (M): Full manual control over aperture and shutter speed.
  • Scene Modes: Pre-set modes for specific situations like Portrait, Landscape, Sports, Night Scene, etc.
  • Creative Control: Apply various filter effects to photos and videos.
  • Panorama Shot: Create panoramic images by sweeping the camera.

3. Zoom Operation

Use the zoom lever around the shutter button to adjust the focal length. The camera features a 20x optical zoom (24-480mm equivalent) and a 2x digital zoom.

  • Push the lever towards W (Wide) to zoom out.
  • Push the lever towards T (Telephoto) to zoom in.

4. Image Stabilization

The camera is equipped with Optical Image Stabilization (O.I.S.) to reduce blur caused by camera shake, especially when using the zoom or shooting in low light. This feature is typically active by default.

5. Video Recording

To record video, press the dedicated [Motion Picture] button. The camera records Full HD (1920 x 1080) video in MP4 format. Press the button again to stop recording.

6. Self-Portrait Mode

The 3-inch LCD monitor can tilt 180 degrees, allowing you to flip it forward for easy self-portraits. When the screen is flipped, the camera may automatically enter a self-portrait mode.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning the Camera

  • Camera Body: Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a cloth lightly dampened with water, then wipe dry. Avoid using organic solvents.
  • Lens: Use a lens brush to remove dust, then gently wipe with a lens cleaning cloth. Avoid touching the lens surface with your fingers.
