4. Assembly

The MTC220 offers three distinct operating modes: mowing, trimming, and edging.

5.1. Mowing Mode

For mowing, ensure the string trimmer is securely attached to the MTD100 mower deck. The mower deck features adjustable cutting heights from 1.6 to 2.4 inches. Adjust the height as needed for your lawn conditions.

1. Insert a charged battery into the trimmer.
2. Hold the trimmer handle firmly and press the safety button, then squeeze the trigger to start the motor.
3. Push the mower across your lawn in overlapping passes. The POWERDRIVE™ transmission helps power through heavy overgrowth.

5.2. Trimming Mode

To use as a string trimmer, detach the trimmer from the mower deck:

1. Place your foot on the orange lever on the mower deck.
2. Pull the trimmer handle upwards and forward to release it from the deck.
3. Insert a charged battery. Press the safety button and squeeze the trigger.
4. Trim around obstacles, fences, and garden beds. The AFS automatic feed system ensures continuous work without manual bumping.

5.3. Edging Mode

For edging, convert the trimmer head:

1. With the trimmer detached from the mower deck, rotate the trimmer head 180 degrees to position it for edging.
2. Insert a charged battery. Press the safety button and squeeze the trigger.
3. Guide the edger along sidewalks, driveways, and flower beds for a clean, defined edge.

6.1. Cleaning
