3. Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the shredder from its packaging. Retain packaging for future transport or storage.

- Waste Bin Installation: The shredder comes with a pull-out waste bin. Ensure it is correctly inserted and fully closed before operation. The bin includes a separate compartment for shredded CDs/credit cards.
- Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a standard electrical outlet.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Control Panel
The control panel typically includes a slide switch with the following positions:
- OFF: Turns the shredder off.
- AUTO (I): The shredder automatically starts when paper is inserted and stops when shredding is complete.
- REV (R): Reverses the cutting mechanism to clear paper jams.
4.2 Shredding Paper
- Ensure the shredder is in the AUTO position.
- Insert up to 10 sheets of 80 gsm paper into the main paper entry slot. Do not exceed the maximum sheet capacity to prevent jams and damage.
- The shredder will automatically start and shred the paper. Once shredding is complete, the motor will stop.
- Avoid shredding items with paper clips or staples, as the cutting mechanism is not designed for these.
4.3 Shredding CDs and Credit Cards
- Ensure the shredder is in the AUTO position.
- Locate the separate slot for CDs and credit cards, usually marked with a CD icon.
- Insert one CD or credit card at a time into the designated slot.
- The shredder will process the item, and the shredded fragments will fall into the separate compartment within the waste bin.

- Slide the waste bin back into the shredder until it is securely closed.

5.2 Lubrication (Recommended)
While some shredders are designed for maintenance-free operation, regular lubrication of the cutting cylinders can extend the life of your shredder and maintain optimal performance, especially for cross-cut models. Use a shredder oil specifically designed for document shredders (e.g., Dahle 20790 shredder oil).
- Apply shredder oil across the paper entry slot in a zigzag pattern.
- Run the shredder in AUTO mode for a few seconds, then in REV mode for a few seconds to distribute the oil.
- Shred a few sheets of paper to absorb any excess oil.
Perform lubrication after every 30 minutes of continuous shredding or when you notice a decrease in performance or increased noise.
5.3 Cleaning
Wipe the exterior of the shredder with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure no liquids enter the shredder mechanism.
