4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

The NUK 4-in-1 Baby Thermometer comes with an integrated CR2032 lithium battery, ready for immediate use. The battery provides power for approximately 3000 measurements. When the battery level is low, a 'LOW' indicator will appear on the display. To replace the battery:

1. Locate the battery compartment cover, usually on the back or bottom of the device.
2. Use a small screwdriver or coin to open the compartment.
3. Remove the old CR2032 battery and insert a new one, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
4. Close the battery compartment securely.

4.2 Initial Power On

Press the power button to turn on the thermometer. The device will perform a self-test, and the last measured temperature will be displayed briefly before it enters standby mode, ready for a new measurement.

5. Operating Instructions

The thermometer features a power button and a scan button. Pressing the power button turns the device on/off. Pressing the scan button initiates a measurement in the selected mode.

5.1 Mode Selection

To switch between measurement modes (auricular, frontal, room, surface), press and hold the power button and the scan button simultaneously until the desired mode icon appears on the display.

5.2 Auricular (Ear) Temperature Measurement

1. Ensure the thermometer is in auricular mode.
2. Gently insert the probe into the ear canal.
3. Press the scan button. The measurement will be completed in approximately one second.
4. Remove the thermometer and read the temperature on the LED display.

5.3 Frontal (Forehead) Temperature Measurement

1. Ensure the thermometer is in frontal mode.
2. Place the probe gently on the temple area of the forehead.
3. Press the scan button. Hold the thermometer steady for 5 to 8 seconds.
4. The result will appear on the digital display in °C or °F. An LED indicator will signal a fever (e.g., red light). This function can be used without disturbing a sleeping baby.

5.4 Room Temperature Measurement

1. Ensure the thermometer is in room temperature mode.
2. Place the thermometer on its base in the desired room.
3. The device will continuously display the ambient room temperature.

5.5 Surface Temperature Measurement

This mode is useful for measuring the temperature of objects or liquids, such as baby milk, food, or bath water.

1. Ensure the thermometer is in surface temperature mode.
2. Point the probe towards the surface of the object or liquid you wish to measure.
3. Press the scan button. The temperature will be displayed.

1. With the device turned off, press and hold the scan button for a few seconds.
