3.2. Brewing Espresso

  1. Pre-heat: Turn on the main power switch. Allow the machine to heat up until the orange light turns off (approximately 15-20 minutes).
  2. Prepare Portafilter: Insert the desired brew basket (single or double) into the portafilter. Grind fresh coffee beans to an espresso-fine consistency. Fill the basket with the appropriate amount of ground coffee (7g for single, 14g for double).
  3. Tamp: Use a tamper to press the coffee grounds firmly and evenly into the basket.
  4. Insert Portafilter: Securely insert the portafilter into the group head by aligning it and twisting it firmly to the right until it locks into place.
  5. Brew: Place your espresso cup(s) under the portafilter spouts. Press the Brew Button. Espresso will begin to flow. Stop the brew when the desired volume is reached (typically 1-2 oz per shot).
  6. Remove Portafilter: After brewing, carefully remove the portafilter by twisting it to the left. Discard the used coffee grounds.

  1. Activate Steam: After brewing, press the Steam Button. Wait for the orange light to turn off, indicating the boiler has reached steaming temperature.
  2. Purge Steam Wand: Place a cloth under the steam wand and briefly open the steam valve knob to purge any condensed water. Close the knob.
  3. Froth Milk: Immerse the tip of the steam wand just below the surface of cold milk in a stainless steel pitcher. Open the steam valve knob fully. Lower the pitcher slightly to introduce air, creating foam. Once desired foam is achieved, immerse the wand deeper to heat the milk.
  4. Stop Steaming: Close the steam valve knob when the milk reaches the desired temperature (around 140-150°F or 60-65°C).
  5. Clean Steam Wand: Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to remove any milk residue. Briefly open the steam valve again to clear any milk from inside the wand.
