6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular maintenance is crucial for the efficient and hygienic operation of your humidifier.

6.1 Daily Maintenance

  • Refill the water tank with fresh, cool water daily.
  • Consider adding a bacteriostatic treatment (sold separately) with each refill to inhibit the growth of mold, mildew, and bacteria.

6.2 Weekly Cleaning

  1. Unplug the Unit: Always unplug the humidifier before cleaning.
  2. Empty Water: Remove the water tank and empty any remaining water from both the tank and the base.
  3. Clean the Tank: Rinse the water tank thoroughly with warm water. For deeper cleaning, use a mild detergent or a mixture of white vinegar and water. Rinse well to remove all cleaning solution.
  4. Clean the Base: Wipe down the inside of the humidifier base with a soft cloth dampened with water and a mild detergent or vinegar solution. Pay attention to any mineral deposits. Do not immerse the base in water.
  5. Rinse and Dry: Rinse all cleaned parts thoroughly and allow them to air dry completely before reassembling.

6.3 Filter Replacement

The SGL1040 Super Wick filter should be replaced regularly, typically every 1-3 months, depending on water hardness and usage. A "Check Filter" indicator on the display may signal when replacement is needed.

  • Unplug the humidifier and remove the top cover.
  • Remove the old wicking filter and dispose of it.
  • Insert a new SGL1040 Super Wick filter, ensuring it fits securely.
  • Replace the top cover and refill the water tank.
