Important Safety Information

Always observe basic safety precautions when using electrical appliances to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:

• Read all instructions carefully before operating the appliance.
• Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
• To protect against fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, do not immerse cord, plugs, or appliance in water or other liquid.
• Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
• Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.

Main Components:

• Bean Hopper: Located on top, for whole coffee beans.
• Water Tank: Removable tank for fresh water, usually located on the side or top.

Setup

Initial Setup and First Use:

1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the machine from its packaging. Remove all protective materials and stickers.
2. Positioning: Place the machine on a stable, level surface, away from heat sources and water. Ensure adequate ventilation around the machine.
3. Rinsing the Water Tank: Remove the water tank, rinse it thoroughly with fresh water, and fill it to the MAX level with fresh, cold tap water. Reinsert the tank securely.
4. Filling the Bean Hopper: Open the bean hopper lid and fill it with whole coffee beans. Do not use ground coffee, instant coffee, or caramelized beans.
5. Connecting to Power: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.
6. First Rinse Cycle: Turn on the machine using the power button. The machine will typically perform an automatic rinse cycle. Follow any on-screen prompts. Place a container under the coffee spouts to collect the water.
7. Adjusting Grinder (Optional): The grinder setting can be adjusted for finer or coarser coffee. Refer to the operating section for detailed instructions. It is recommended to adjust the grinder only when the grinder is operating.

Operating the Machine

Making Coffee:

1. Ensure the water tank is filled and the bean hopper contains coffee beans.
2. Place a cup or two cups under the coffee spouts.
3. Select your desired coffee strength and volume using the control panel buttons. The display will guide you through the options.
4. Press the button for your desired beverage (e.g., Espresso, Coffee). The machine will grind the beans, brew, and dispense the coffee.
5. The machine will return to standby mode after brewing.

Preparing Milk Beverages (Latte Macchiato):

The Saeco Lirika Macchiato is equipped to prepare milk-based beverages. Ensure the milk carafe or frothing system is clean and properly connected.

1. Fill the milk carafe with fresh, cold milk.
2. Connect the milk carafe to the machine's milk frothing system as per the machine's design (e.g., attach the milk tube to the spout).
3. Place a tall glass under the coffee and milk spouts.
4. Select "Latte Macchiato" or your desired milk beverage from the control panel.
5. The machine will automatically froth the milk and then dispense the coffee into the glass.
6. After preparation, clean the milk system immediately to prevent milk residue buildup.

Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance ensure optimal performance and longevity of your Saeco Lirika Macchiato.

Daily Cleaning:

• Drip Tray and Grounds Container: Empty and rinse the drip tray and grounds container daily or when prompted by the machine.
• Coffee Spouts: Wipe the coffee spouts with a damp cloth.
• Milk System: If you prepared milk beverages, perform a quick rinse of the milk system immediately after use. Refer to your machine's display for specific milk system cleaning cycles.

Weekly/Monthly Cleaning:

• Brew Group: Remove the brew group (refer to your machine's specific instructions for removal). Rinse it thoroughly under lukewarm running water until no coffee residue is visible. Allow it to air dry before reinserting. Do not use detergents.
• Water Tank: Clean the water tank with a mild detergent and rinse thoroughly.
• Bean Hopper: Periodically clean the bean hopper with a dry cloth to remove any oil residue from the beans.

Descaling:

The machine will prompt you when descaling is required. Use only Saeco descaling solution. Follow the instructions provided with the descaling solution and the machine's on-screen prompts carefully.

1. Empty the water tank and grounds container.
2. Pour the Saeco descaling solution into the water tank, then fill with fresh water up to the indicated level.
3. Place a large container under the coffee spout and steam wand.
4. Start the descaling cycle as prompted by the machine. The cycle typically involves several rinsing phases.
5. After the descaling solution has been dispensed, rinse the water tank and fill it with fresh water for the final rinse cycles.
6. Perform several rinse cycles with fresh water to ensure all descaling solution is removed.
