Door Reversibility
The SHARP SJ-14Y-W refrigerator features a reversible door, allowing you to change the door's opening direction (left or right) to suit your kitchen layout. Refer to the detailed instructions in the full manual for the procedure to reverse the door swing. This typically involves moving hinges and handles to the opposite side.
Initial Cleaning
Before first use, clean the interior and exterior of the refrigerator with a soft cloth and a mild detergent. Wipe dry thoroughly.
Power Connection
Plug the refrigerator into a dedicated, grounded electrical outlet. Allow the refrigerator to stand for at least 2-3 hours before plugging it in to allow the refrigerant to settle. After plugging in, allow the appliance to cool for several hours before loading food.
4. Operating Instructions
Temperature Control
The refrigerator and freezer compartments have separate temperature controls. Adjust the settings according to the amount of food stored and the ambient temperature. Generally, a medium setting is recommended for everyday use.
Food Storage Guidelines
To maximize freshness and efficiency:
- Refrigerator Compartment: Store fresh foods, dairy products, and beverages. Do not overcrowd shelves to allow for proper air circulation.
- Freezer Compartment: Ideal for frozen foods, ice, and items requiring long-term storage. Ensure packages are sealed to prevent freezer burn.

5. Maintenance
Cleaning
Regular cleaning helps maintain hygiene and efficiency.
- Interior: Clean regularly with a solution of mild detergent and warm water. Rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly. Remove shelves and drawers for easier cleaning.
- Exterior: Wipe surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. For stubborn stains, use a mild, non-abrasive cleaner.
- Door Seals: Clean door gaskets regularly to ensure a tight seal. A loose seal can lead to increased energy consumption.
Defrosting
The refrigerator compartment typically features automatic defrosting. The freezer compartment may require manual defrosting if ice buildup becomes excessive. Refer to the full manual for specific defrosting instructions for the freezer, if applicable.
Power Saving Tips
- Do not open the door frequently or leave it open for long periods.
- Allow hot foods to cool before placing them in the refrigerator.
- Ensure the door seals are clean and intact.
