Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the proper installation, operation, and maintenance of your Campbell 1PS-B Water Filter System. Please read these instructions thoroughly before beginning installation or use to ensure safe and efficient performance. This system is designed for whole house and point-of-use sediment removal in 3/4 inch cold water lines, suitable for both residential and commercial environments.
Safety Information
- Always turn off the main water supply before installing or servicing the filter system.
- Depress the pressure release button before opening the filter housing to relieve pressure.
- Ensure all connections are secure to prevent leaks.
- Do not exceed the maximum operating pressure of 125 PSI.
- Do not exceed the maximum operating temperature of 100°F (38°C).
- Use only genuine Campbell replacement cartridges for optimal performance and to maintain warranty.

Setup and Installation
Follow these steps for proper installation:
- Plan Location: Choose a suitable location for the filter system in your 3/4 inch cold water line. Ensure there is enough clearance for cartridge replacement.
- Turn Off Water Supply: Locate and turn off the main water supply valve to your home or the specific area where the filter will be installed.
- Drain Water Lines: Open a nearby faucet to relieve pressure and drain water from the lines.
- Install Mounting Bracket (if applicable): Securely mount the filter housing bracket (not included, if required) to a sturdy surface using appropriate hardware.
- Connect Plumbing: Install the filter housing into the 3/4 inch cold water line. Ensure the flow direction matches the arrows on the filter head (if present). Use appropriate plumbing fittings and thread sealant (e.g., PTFE tape) for leak-free connections.
- Insert Cartridge: Ensure the included 1Ss sediment filter cartridge is properly seated inside the clear bowl.
- Assemble Housing: Carefully screw the clear bowl onto the blue filter head. Hand-tighten only; do not overtighten.
- Restore Water Supply: Slowly turn on the main water supply. Check for leaks around the filter housing and connections.
- Flush System: Open a nearby cold water faucet and allow water to run for several minutes to flush out any air or carbon fines (if using a carbon filter, though this is a sediment filter).
Operating Instructions
The Campbell 1PS-B Water Filter System operates continuously once installed. Water flows through the inlet, passes through the sediment filter cartridge, and exits through the outlet, removing suspended particles.
- The clear bowl allows for visual inspection of the filter cartridge to determine when replacement is needed.
- The orange pressure release button on the top of the blue housing is used to relieve pressure before cartridge changes, making the process easier.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance, primarily cartridge replacement, is crucial for optimal performance.
Cartridge Replacement
The frequency of cartridge replacement depends on water quality and usage. Replace the cartridge when you observe a noticeable drop in water pressure or when the cartridge appears heavily discolored through the clear housing.
- Turn Off Water Supply: Shut off the main water supply to the filter system.
- Relieve Pressure: Depress the orange pressure release button on top of the filter head to release any trapped pressure.
- Unscrew Housing: Carefully unscrew the clear filter bowl from the blue filter head. You may need a filter wrench (not included) if it is too tight.
- Remove Old Cartridge: Remove the used sediment filter cartridge and dispose of it properly.
- Clean Housing: Clean the inside of the clear bowl with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Inspect the O-ring for any damage and replace if necessary. Lubricate the O-ring with a food-grade silicone grease if it appears dry.
- Insert New Cartridge: Place a new Campbell 1Ss (or equivalent) sediment filter cartridge into the clear bowl, ensuring it is properly centered.
- Reassemble Housing: Screw the clear bowl back onto the blue filter head. Hand-tighten only. Do not overtighten.
- Restore Water Supply: Slowly turn on the main water supply. Check for leaks.
- Flush System: Open a nearby cold water faucet and let water run for a few minutes to flush out any air.
