  • Do not allow children or pets near the shredder.
  • Unplug the shredder from the power outlet when not in use or before cleaning.
  • Do not shred metal objects, wet paper, or adhesive labels in the auto-feed tray.
  • Operate the shredder on a flat, stable surface.
  • Do not attempt to service the shredder yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Auto Feed Shredding

The auto-feed feature allows for hands-free shredding of multiple sheets:

  1. Ensure the shredder is powered on.
  2. Open the auto-feed tray lid located on top of the shredder.
  3. Stack up to 300 sheets of paper neatly into the auto-feed chamber. Ensure papers are flat and unfolded.
  4. Close the auto-feed tray lid. The shredder will automatically begin feeding and shredding the documents.
  5. The shredder will stop automatically once all documents in the auto-feed tray have been processed.

5.2. Manual Feed Shredding

For smaller quantities or specific items, use the manual feed slot:

  • Insert up to 7 sheets of paper into the manual feed slot.
  • Credit cards must be manually inserted one at a time into the designated slot.
  • CDs/DVDs can be shredded through a separate slot, also manually.
  • The shredder will activate when paper is detected and stop when shredding is complete.

5.3. Lockable Paper Chamber

To secure sensitive documents during auto-feed shredding, utilize the lockable paper chamber:

  • Load documents into the auto-feed tray.
  • Close the lid and engage the 4-digit programmable PIN code lock. This prevents unauthorized access to documents while they are awaiting shredding.
  • The shredder will process the documents once the lock is disengaged or the shredding cycle is complete.

5.4. Waste Bin Management

The shredder features an 11-gallon pull-out waste bin:

  • Monitor the waste bin full indicator to know when it needs emptying.
  • When full, pull out the waste bin, remove the shredded contents, and replace the bag.
  • Ensure the bin is fully reinserted for the shredder to operate.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your shredder:

6.1. Self-Cleaning Cutters

The shredder is equipped with self-cleaning cutters that automatically remove shred build-up. No user intervention is typically required for this feature.

6.2. Oiling the Shredder

To maintain cutting performance and reduce noise, it is recommended to oil the shredder regularly, especially after emptying the waste bin multiple times or after heavy use. Use a shredder-specific oil sheet or liquid shredder oil applied across the manual feed slot.

6.3. Cleaning the Exterior

Wipe the exterior of the shredder with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

7. Troubleshooting

Refer to the following common issues and solutions:

  • Shredder does not power on: Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a working outlet and the main power switch is in the 'ON' position. Check if the waste bin is fully inserted.
  • Paper jam: The shredder features Intelligent Auto+ Jam Clearance, which automatically reverses and re-feeds stuck papers. If a jam persists, turn off the shredder, unplug it, and carefully remove the jammed paper from the feed slot.
  • Shredder stops during operation: This may indicate the shredder has reached its continuous run time limit (16 minutes) and needs to cool down. Allow the unit to rest for approximately 30-45 minutes before resuming operation. A full waste bin will also stop operation.
  • Power Save feature: The shredder includes an automatic shut-down feature to conserve energy. If the shredder enters power save mode, simply press any button or feed paper to reactivate it.
