Image 1: Technoline TX 37 IT Wireless Temperature Sensor. The sensor is a white, rectangular prism with ventilation slits on the front. It measures approximately 15 cm in height, 6 cm in width, and 4 cm in depth. A small base provides stability for upright placement.

Key Components:

  • Temperature Sensor: Located internally for accurate readings.
  • Battery Compartment: On the rear or side, for power supply.
  • Transmission Indicator: A small LED that may flash during data transmission (if present).
  • Reset/Channel Button: For pairing or changing transmission channels (if present).

Setup and Installation

1. Inserting Batteries

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back or side of the sensor.
  2. Remove the cover by sliding or unlatching it.
  3. Insert the provided battery (e.g., 1 x AA or AAA) according to the polarity markings (+ and -).
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover securely.

2. Pairing with a Weather Station

The TX 37 IT sensor is designed to work with compatible Technoline weather stations. The pairing process typically involves the following steps:

  1. Ensure your main weather station unit is powered on and in receiving mode (refer to your weather station's manual for specific instructions).
  2. After inserting batteries into the TX 37 IT sensor, it will automatically begin transmitting data. Some sensors may have a small "TX" or "Reset" button inside the battery compartment or on the back; press this button if the weather station does not detect the sensor automatically.
  3. Place the sensor and the weather station close to each other during the initial pairing process.
  4. Once paired, the weather station display should show the temperature reading from the TX 37 IT sensor.

3. Sensor Placement

  • For accurate outdoor temperature readings, place the sensor in a shaded area, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and reflective surfaces.
  • Ensure the sensor is protected from direct rain and snow. While designed for outdoor use, excessive moisture can affect performance.
  • Maintain a clear line of sight between the sensor and the main weather station unit to optimize wireless signal strength. Avoid placing it near large metal objects or thick walls that can obstruct the signal.
  • The maximum wireless range is typically up to 100 meters (330 feet) in open air, but this can be significantly reduced by obstacles.

Operation

Once successfully paired and placed, the Technoline TX 37 IT sensor operates automatically. It continuously measures the ambient temperature and transmits this data wirelessly to your compatible weather station at regular intervals (e.g., every 30-60 seconds).

  • Temperature Display: The temperature reading will appear on your main weather station unit's display.
  • Data Transmission: The sensor will periodically send updated temperature data. There is no manual operation required for data transmission.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Sensor

  • Wipe the sensor's exterior with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the plastic casing or internal components.
  • Ensure no moisture enters the ventilation slits or battery compartment.

Battery Replacement

When the battery level is low, your weather station may indicate a low battery icon for the outdoor sensor, or the sensor may stop transmitting data. Replace the battery as follows:

  1. Remove the battery compartment cover.
  2. Remove the old battery.
  3. Insert a new battery of the correct type (e.g., AA or AAA) ensuring correct polarity.
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover.
  5. After replacing the battery, you may need to re-establish the connection with your weather station. Refer to the "Pairing with a Weather Station" section or your weather station's manual.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No temperature reading on weather station.Sensor not paired or out of range. Low battery.Ensure sensor is within range. Re-pair the sensor (see Setup). Replace batteries.
Inaccurate temperature readings.Sensor exposed to direct sunlight or heat source. Sensor placed near a window or wall that conducts heat/cold.Relocate the sensor to a shaded, well-ventilated area, away from direct heat or cold sources.
Intermittent signal loss.Obstructions between sensor and weather station. Interference from other wireless devices.Reduce distance between sensor and weather station. Remove obstructions. Try changing the channel if your weather station supports it.
Sensor not powering on.Incorrect battery insertion. Dead battery.Check battery polarity. Replace with a fresh battery.
