2. Safety Information

  • Read all instructions before using this appliance.
  • Ensure the voltage indicated on the filter matches your local power supply.
  • Always disconnect the power supply before performing any maintenance or handling the filter.
  • Do not operate the filter if the power cord or plug is damaged.
  • Do not immerse the power plug or controller in water.
  • This appliance is intended for indoor use only, specifically for aquariums.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

3. Components Overview

The EDEN 328 Internal Filter consists of several key components designed for optimal performance.

  • Pump Unit: Houses the motor and impeller for water circulation.
  • Filter Chambers: Multiple compartments for various filter media.
  • Filter Sponges: For mechanical filtration of coarse particles.
  • Venturi Nozzles: For oxygen enrichment of the water.
  • Rotating Water Outlet: Patented design to create natural water currents.
  • Suction Cups: For secure attachment to the aquarium glass.

4. Setup and Installation

  1. Prepare Filter Media: The filter comes with two filter sponges for mechanical filtration. The two subsequent filtration chambers can be filled with additional mechanical or biological filter media (e.g., activated carbon, ceramic rings) as desired. Ensure media is rinsed thoroughly before placement.
  2. Assemble Filter: Ensure all components are securely fitted. Attach the Venturi nozzle and air tube if oxygenation is desired.
  3. Clean Aquarium Wall: Before installation, thoroughly clean the inner surface of the aquarium glass where the filter will be placed to ensure optimal suction cup adhesion.
  4. Position Filter: Submerge the filter completely in the aquarium water. Position it vertically, ensuring the water outlet is above the water surface if using the Venturi function, or slightly below for quieter operation and surface agitation.
  5. Attach to Aquarium: Press the suction cups firmly against the clean aquarium glass to secure the filter in place.
  6. Connect Power: Once the filter is securely installed and fully submerged, connect the power plug to a suitable electrical outlet.

5. Operation

  • Starting the Filter: After connecting to power, the filter will immediately begin pumping water.
  • Adjusting Water Flow: The EDEN 328 features an adjustable flow rate. Refer to the diagram on the filter unit for specific adjustment mechanisms.
  • Venturi Oxygenation: If using the Venturi nozzle, ensure the air tube is positioned above the water surface. Adjust the air intake for desired oxygen bubble production.
  • Water Outlet Rotation: The patented rotating water outlet can be adjusted to direct water flow, creating natural currents within the aquarium.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and efficiency of your filter and the health of your aquarium.

  1. Disconnect Power: Always unplug the filter from the power outlet before performing any maintenance.
  2. Remove Filter: Carefully detach the filter from the aquarium glass.
  3. Disassemble: Gently separate the filter chambers and remove the filter media.
  4. Clean Filter Sponges: Rinse the filter sponges thoroughly in old aquarium water (from a water change) to preserve beneficial bacteria. Do not use tap water directly, as chlorine can kill these bacteria. Replace sponges when they become too degraded.
  5. Clean Impeller: Periodically remove the impeller from the pump unit and clean it and its housing to prevent blockages and maintain optimal flow.
  6. Clean Filter Chambers: Rinse the filter chambers and other plastic parts with aquarium water or dechlorinated tap water.
  7. Replace Media: Replace activated carbon every 2-4 weeks. Biological media (ceramic rings) should only be rinsed gently in old aquarium water and replaced only if physically degraded.
  8. Reassemble and Reinstall: Reassemble the filter, ensuring all parts are correctly fitted. Reinstall in the aquarium and reconnect power.
