AliMed Wheelchair Identification System User Manual
Model: B00FZGO6PE
1. Introduction
The AliMed Wheelchair Identification System is designed to provide a practical and efficient method for identifying specific information pertinent to individual residents' wheelchairs. This system helps new employees or floating staff quickly become familiar with required accessories and ensures consistent care and inventory management. It is an economical solution for healthcare facilities.
2. Components Included
Each AliMed Wheelchair Identification System package includes the following components:
- 10 x Plastic Brackets
- 50 x Removable Vinyl Labels
3. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to properly set up and install the Wheelchair Identification System:
- Select a Location: Choose a visible and easily accessible location on the wheelchair frame for the plastic bracket. Ensure it does not interfere with the wheelchair's operation or user comfort.
- Attach the Bracket: The plastic bracket is designed for easy installation. Securely attach one of the 10 provided brackets to the chosen location on the wheelchair. The bracket typically clips or slides onto a frame component.
- Prepare a Label: Take one of the 50 removable vinyl labels. These labels are designed to be written on and then adhered to the bracket.
- Apply the Label: Once the label is filled out (see Section 4: Operating Instructions), peel off its backing and carefully adhere it to the designated area on the plastic bracket. Ensure it is smooth and free of air bubbles.

A white vinyl label is affixed to the bracket, displaying handwritten information. The label is divided into sections: "NAME: BOB SMITH", "ROOM NO.: 132 B", "CHAIR ACCESSORIES: LAP CUSHION, FOOT RESTS", and "TOTAL CHAIR WEIGHT: 46 lbs.". This image demonstrates how the system appears when installed and in use.
4. Operating Instructions
The vinyl labels are designed for easy and clear recording of essential wheelchair information. Use a permanent marker or a pen that writes clearly on vinyl for best results.
- Name: Write the full name of the individual using the wheelchair.
- Room No.: Indicate the room number or specific location where the individual resides.
- Chair Accessories: List all specific accessories required for the wheelchair, such as "Lap Cushion", "Foot Rests", "Oxygen Tank Holder", "IV Pole", etc. Ensure all necessary items are noted.
- Total Chair Weight: Record the total weight of the wheelchair, including any permanently attached accessories, if this information is relevant for lifting or transport protocols.
The labels are removable, allowing for updates or changes as needed. Simply peel off an old label and apply a new one with updated information.
5. Maintenance
The AliMed Wheelchair Identification System requires minimal maintenance to ensure its longevity and readability.
- Cleaning: The plastic brackets can be wiped clean with a damp cloth and mild disinfectant. Avoid abrasive cleaners that may scratch the surface.
- Label Care: While the vinyl labels are durable, avoid excessive rubbing or exposure to harsh chemicals that could smudge the ink or degrade the label material.
- Replacement: If a label becomes illegible or damaged, replace it with a new one from the provided pack of 50. If a plastic bracket is damaged, it can be replaced with one of the remaining brackets.
6. Troubleshooting
This is a simple, non-electronic product, so troubleshooting is generally limited to physical issues.
- Label Not Sticking: Ensure the bracket surface is clean and dry before applying the label. Press firmly across the entire label surface to ensure good adhesion.
- Ink Smudging: Use a permanent marker or a pen specifically designed for writing on vinyl or plastic surfaces. Allow ink to dry completely before handling the label.
- Bracket Loose: Re-secure the bracket to the wheelchair frame. If it consistently becomes loose, consider a different attachment point or ensure it is correctly installed according to its design.
