Setup and Installation

Important: Installation should be performed by a qualified professional or someone with adequate plumbing experience. Always shut off the main water supply before beginning installation.

  1. Prepare the System: Turn off the main water supply to the area where the filter housing is located. Open a nearby faucet to relieve pressure in the lines.
  2. Access Filter Housing: Locate your BWT NDL2 filter housing. Depending on your setup, you may need a filter wrench to open the housing.
  3. Remove Old Cartridge (if applicable): Carefully unscrew the filter housing sump. Remove the old cartridge and dispose of it properly.
  4. Clean Housing: Clean the inside of the filter housing sump with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Inspect the O-ring for any damage; replace if necessary. Lubricate the O-ring with a food-grade silicone grease if recommended by the housing manufacturer.
  5. Insert New Cartridge: Unwrap the new BWT CR10 cartridge. Insert the cartridge into the filter housing, ensuring it is seated correctly in the center standpipe.
  6. Reassemble Housing: Carefully screw the filter housing sump back onto the cap. Hand-tighten first, then use a filter wrench for a snug fit. Do not overtighten.
  7. Restore Water Supply: Slowly turn on the main water supply. Check for leaks around the filter housing.
  8. Flush System: Open a nearby cold water faucet and allow water to run for several minutes (e.g., 5-10 minutes) to flush out any air and fine carbon particles from the new cartridge. The water may appear cloudy initially; this is normal and will clear.
